Griffith University generally has 3 trimesters per year for its standard academic calendar. Each trimester includes:
- a 12-week teaching period
- a study week
- an exam period
Trimester 1 (Late Feb to Early Mar/May) and Trimester 2 (Jun to Aug) are compuslory for students to attend. Trimester 3 (Aug/Oct to Nov/Feb) is optional, and can be used to fast-track or catch up their studies.

Yes, Indian students can study at Griffith University without IELTS, provided they have an Medium of Instruction (MOI) or submitted alternative English tests like TOEFL-iBT, PTE, and Duolingo.
Students that have neither can enroll in English Language Intensive Courses for Overseas Students (ELICOS) to meet the English requirements.
