Hi,
The score of 6 is the minimum requirement to be eligible. If it's higher, you definitely have an edge. So, check the colleges eligibility and apply.

Do as much general reading as possible. Focus on reading short articles on topics that interest you or on topics that are common in IELTS. Newspapers and magazines are a great resource here.
Improve key skills skimming and scanning and reading in detail. You need to train your speed reading skills so that you can read as efficiently as possible.
As the texts are long you need to have a definite strategy for how you manage your time in the exam to make sure you finish on time. Before the exam, you should make yourself familiar with each type of question as they are slightly different.

Hi,
With 6.79 CGPA it is almost impossible if you don't have a strong research profile. Since your academics are poor you have to strong in other areas such as research, project work, patent, publications, etc. The recommendation letters from your professors will be invaluable. Also you have to prepare a strong SOP.

To pursue MS from a foreign university, you would first need to clear your backlogs, unless mentioned otherwise. Your work experience and scores in GRE are fine.
