Yes — Lovely Professional University (LPU) is commonly considered a Tier-2 university in India.

Why LPU is placed in Tier-2

India does not have an official government “tier” system, so tier labels are based on public perception, rankings, placement performance, research output, and campus resources.

LPU is usually placed in Tier-2 because:

  • It has strong placements (including some very high-package international offers) but not at the consistent average level of IITs/NITs/Top private Tier-1 institutions.

GIBS receives scores from numerous national level MBA and PGDM entrance tests including, CAT, MAT, XAT, CMAT, ATMA, and GMAT. Further, GIBS conducts its own GIBS Online Entrance Test (GOET) which provides students who did not take the national exams another opportunity to apply to the Institute. The selection process typically includes an applicant's exam score along with an interview and group discussion to assess an applicant's personality, aptitude, and communication ability. As such, applicants from various educational backgrounds are given several options to be eligible for admission to GIBS's management programs.

The lowest package offered is generally around 4.5 LPA and thus, even the entry-level positions will allow new graduates to devel

GIBS considers exam scores as an indication of a candidate's suitability for an MBA program, while GIBS also evaluates applicants' overall scores (percentile scores) rather than section cut-offs. Applicants who achieve the minimum cut-off (60–65 percentile) will be invited to participate in the next round of selection processes. The exam scores will serve as an initial screen to allow GIBS to assess the academic readiness of its MBA applicants for management studies and to provide a basis for a candidate's assessment via a combination of other assessment methods (group discussion, personal interview, and written assessment). In case you are a student of a Rajkiya Engineering College (AKTU), and studying Electrical Engineering, then a 610 LPA placement is definitely possible, though it is primarily in the off-campus preparation. Core companies seldom visit such colleges hence you need to develop skills that will expose you to more opportunities.

The most realistic and high-demand jobs in 6-10 LPA job are:

Software /IT (Developer, QA, Support Engineer)

Machine Learning/ Data Analytics.
The only electrical core jobs that tend to provide low packages are those that do not crack the PSUs.

2. Learn In-Demand Skills

For Software/IT:
