IIIT Bangalore and IIIT Delhi, both are closely knit leading Engineering Institutes in India. The NIRF ranking 2025 of IIIT Bangalore is 69 whereas IIIT Delhi is ranked 63 in the Engineering category.

According to student reviews and public sources, IIIT Bangalore has an edge of IIIT Delhi for M.Tech programmes. However, IIIT Delhi has a good reputation academically. Furthermore, location-wise, IIIT Bangalore is more in demand compared to IIIT Delhi as there's a lot of involvement of core IT companies around Bangalore area. Apart from this,  students looking for collaborative IT Industry projects and internship opportunities, find IIIT Bangalore better than IIIT Delhi.

In terms of placement, the highest package offered during IIITB placements 2024 stood at INR 65 LPA whereas the highest package offered during IIITD placements 2024 stood at INR 49 LPA. Moreover, the average package offered during IIITB and IIITD UG placements 2024 was around INR 34 LPA and INR 22.1 LPA, respectively.

Having said that, IIIT Delhi has more BTech course options than IIIT Bangalore, which students must keep in mind as well.

Now, it depends on students' preference and their choices regarding location, courses and faculty to choose between IIIT Delhi or IIIT Bangalore.

Note: IIIT Bangalore offers BTech and Integrated M.Tech (5-year duration) programs. However, the placement stats are avaliable for iMTech courses only. 

As per the NIRF 2025 ranking under the “Engineering” category, Indraprastha IIT Delhi ranks 63 among the top Engineering institutes of the country. The total fee for M.Tech in IIIT Delhi ranges between INR 3.7 Lacs and INR 6 lakh. NIT Trichy MTech fee is INR 1.4 lakh. As per placement statistics, the median package is recorded to be INR 18.17 LPA for IIITD and INR 7 LPA for NIT Trichy. Hence, it can be concluded that the fee is higher at IIITD. It must be noted that the fee given for both institutes is as per the official website/sanctioning body. It is still subject to changes and hence, is indicative. But, this institute also has got a good ranking as per a recognised ranking body. Thus, if given a choice, IIIT Delhi is a better option than NIT Trichy.

It is extremely doubtful that a person can get into IIIT Delhi CSE with a rank of 38k SC. In 2025 JEE Main, SC category closing rank in CSE (Outside Delhi) was found to be 44134, whereas in Home State it was 109168. This is however inclusive of all IIIT Delhi B.Tech courses. In the case of pure CSE, the cutoffs are lower. The SC category closing rank (Other State) to obtain B.Tech CSE in 2025 was 44134 and it was 109168 (Home State). When you are in these ranges, it might be difficult to get CSE particularly because of its demand. Other specializations in Computer Science, such as CS+AI or CS+Applied Math may give you more opportunities.
