Both the institutes are good colleges for medical courses. JIPMER has a better ranking than IMS BHU in the medical category in the NIRF 2024 rankings. More parameters are mentioned below for candidates reference and to make a decision:

The consolidated placement statistics are not available on the official website. As per NIRF report 2024, the median package offered to MBBS students was INR 12 LPA during the placements 2023. The median package offered to MBBS students remained the same for the last two years i.e., INR 12 LPA. Moreover, as per the report, 114 MBBS students received placement offers.

The average package data is not mentioned in the placement report for JIPMER Puducherry. But, according to JIPMER Puducherry 2022 placements, the median salary for the MBBS students was INR 12,00,000 LPA, INR 20 LPA for 2-year PG students, and INR 24 LPA for 3-year PG students. Hence, as per the aforementioned placement data, the highest package reached INR 24 LPA, and for undergraduates, it was INR 12 LPA with a 96% placement rate.

According to student reviews, JIPMER Puducherry has been given a score of 4.1 on placements. In JIPMER Puducherry 150 students were admitted in year 2014-15, out of which 142 graduated in 2018-19. According to this, 120 deserving students have been recruited with a mean salary of INR 11,14,440 and 22 selected for advanced studies. In year 2015-16, 150 students were admitted, out of which 150 graduated in 2019-20. A total of 142 candidates were given placements with an average salary of INR 12,00,000 and eight students have been selected to study at university level.

JIPMER course fee is a cumulative of tuition fee, hostel fee, security deposit, etc. The fee for the three-year Doctor of Medicine (MD) programme at JIPMER is INR 46,580. Candidates need to pay admission fee amount or the first-semester fee to confirm their enrollment. JIPMER Puducherry offers the Doctor of Medicine (MD) programme in 19 specialisations. The PG-level course is offered in a full-time mode. Admission to the courses is based on merit in INI CET. Some of the specialisations in which MD is offered by JIPMER are:
