Candidates are admitted to JIPMER Puducherry's BSc programme based on their performance in the NEET exam. A portion of the seats are set aside for Pondicherry residents who are students. On the other hand, people from anywhere throughout the nation are eligible to run for the remaining seats. therefore, even if you are not from Pundicheey, you can still be admitted based on your NEET performance.

The requirements for selection differ depending on the course. The institute administers its entrance exam, even though some programmes, like MBBS, require legitimate NEET-UG scores, while other programmes, like BSc and MSc, do not. Candidates must take the NEET-UG exam in order to be considered for admission to the flagship MBBS programme. After submitting an application through the JIPMER Puducherry website, candidates with valid NEET-UG scores or ranks can proceed to the counselling round, which is run by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare's Medical Counselling Committee (MCC).
