B.Tech through lateral entry admission process varies in different engineering colleges. Admission in DTU is based on marks scored in Diploma in engineering. The admission in Manipal University is based on its B.Tech entrance examination. Some states conduct LEET exam for lateral entry admission in the state engineering colleges. You are advised to make target universities list and then look at their website for lateral entry admission process.

Dwarkadas J. Sanghvi College, Vermata Jijabai Technological Institute and Sardar Patel College of Engineering are top engineering colleges with lateral entry scheme.

I don't think NIT offers lateral entry admissions but other private universities provide admission through JLEET.

All college doesn't provide lateral entry to Diploma holders. So, first find the colleges which you can take admission.

Yeah, Jadavpur University get the admission by the lateral entry but you have to appear in LEET entrance exam.

Muffakham Jah College of Engineering and Technology and Chaitanya Bharathi Institute of Technology and Vasavi College of Engineering offer admission through lateral entry.

Almost every state has its own set of rules and procedures. Some states conduct entrance exams while others admit students based on marks of diploma. DTE if your state will give you correct picture.

Most of the universities have lateral entry scheme for Diploma or B.Sc holders. So, you can check the respective websites for the entrance exam or admission process.

Yes, I can understand your query since I had lived in Mumbai. DTE will make a merit list of those who have applied for lateral admission. Your chances of desired college depend on your merit.
