Electronics & Communication is perhaps an evergreen subject of study. Research in this field is going on for any years and I am sure it will continue for years to come. Just have no worries in this aspect. You will have plenty of job opportunities after obtaining your doctorate.

It's very nice to know your desire. Firstly, you have to decide as to from which university you want to do Ph.D. Secondly, you need to appear for and clear entrance test conducted to select students who can register for Ph.D. Thirdly, you need to get accepted by the guide for this programme. Then, with his guidance, you need to register and start the process.
