If you are interested in somewhat manufacturing industry then definitely go for the production branch they teach you all the concepts of mechanical engineer plus also teach you to lead the engineers working in a industry. I am also a student of production engineering at DTU, I choose this branch so

Production engineering branch has more better scope in terms of placement but limited opportunity compared to mechanical engineering. Other than this, you can do GATE from both these branches. Better to go for production engineering.
