Operations management is a business subject that deals with ensuring products are obtained in the most efficient, cost-effective manner while meeting customer standards. A graduate of an MBA in Operational Management programme has many career options at their disposal. However, some of the most common include: supply chain management, logistics planning, inventory control management, or business consultation. Supply Chain Manager
Individuals working in managing supply chains may be called purchasing agents, buyers or purchasing managers. Their job entails buying services and goods for the company or organisation that employs them. It is their job to find the best products for the lowest price. They must be knowledgeable about various suppliers, both domestic and foreign, and the factors that may affect supply. They usually are experienced in a particular type of merchandise and know how to analyze the buying preferences of customers. Logistics Manager
A logistics manager works with the departments of purchasing, marketing and manufacturing to implement and manage supply chains (both export and import) that are cost-effective. They are responsible for developing strategies for distribution and creating and maintaining contacts with logistics intermediaries. Consultant
A consultant may work with a company to improve various aspects of its operations associated with logistics and supply chain management. He or she may bring into play information technology and use strategic planning to recommend operational changes. A consultant may work on global optimization of a supply chain, selecting software and strategic sourcing. They may also assist clients in implementing a knowledge base along with logistical processes and tools to increase the client's profitability. Inventory Control Manager
It is the job of an inventory control manager to create, perfect and put in place plans that minimize costs associated with inventory but meet customer service expectations. They oversee the systems used for inventory management as well as any actual, physical inventory processes. They are responsible for inventory quality and the flow of inventory through the system. Vishal don't go with which stream is better. Go with what you want do after studying B.Tech. You may take following considerations. If you like computer, want to build crazy application or something related to software go with Computer Science engineering. If you like playing with machines/motors or electricity go ahead with Mechanical engineering. Or Electrical engineering. If you are India, after studying Electronics and communication engineering most of the students gets job/work in IT companies. Only few percent gets chance in electronics companies. So I would suggest, better to study Computer Science engineering. If you want to sail through vast sea go with Marine engineering. If you have not decided what you want to do after B.Tech, sit for one or two days and decided what you want to do. If still confused, select any of the engineering mentioned in point # 1, 2 and 3 (Computer Science, Electrical, Mechanical, or Electronics). Best of luck.

Production Engineering, Industrial Engineering and Manufacturing Systems Engineering are closely related disciplines. Production and Industrial Engineering are pretty much the same disciplines. The areas of study include production systems (batch, mass, etc. ), production planning and management, economics of production systems, optimization and simulation techniques, etc. The supporting core engineering disciplines like engineering design, machine tools, production technology, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, the strength of materials, material Science, are all taught as well. Manufacturing Systems Engineering is more often a graduate level course rather than an undergraduate course which focuses on production systems and practices, and their mathematical modelling. There is far less emphasis on the supporting engineering disciplines and far more focus on understanding the determinants of efficient manufacturing in different modes of production. In addition, manufacturing processes are studied in detail - from CNC's and other precision machinery to nanotechnology.
