Hello Deepthi,
Production engineering has a good scope as he said above . since he didn't tell about production engineering at PSG, I may tell you about it.
It is good that you have opted for PSG as it has its own industry so that there is no other better option than PSG.

You should go with mechanical from PU as it has good placements as compared with production engineering.
But UCOE DEPT is in Panjabi University, Patiala, you should definitely go with production engineering in GNDEC.

Dear, production engineering is a part of mechanical engineering. If you want to go in manufacturing industries & want to be a specialist in production then you can do the your B.Tech course in production engineering. In mechanical, you can learn about all the energy subjects like thermodynamics, refrigeration and air conditioning, fluid mechanics internal combustion engine and some part of production engineering.

Yeah, you can get the admission, but before admission in this college in second year you have to qualifying qualifying the LEET entrance exam to get the lateral entry.
