IIT ranks 9 in the list of top colleges of India. Indian Institute of Technology- Roorkee offers many courses out of which Computer Science engineering is one of the courses which offers about 100 seats to students. After considering the placement report of 2016 for IIT, Guwahati in biotechnology engineering branch, out of the 40 students who enrolled for placements, 32 got placed. Some core companies this visit like Biocon, Narayan Cadillac, Sun Pharma, Ranbaxy, Brenntag Industries, etc. But gave away very few offers, Also these placements were mostly considering Business Intelligence, data analytics, banking finance, marketing and other such companies due to the lack of ample of core biotechnology companies visiting the campus and thus rolled out IT based roles. IIT, Guwahati has dedicated placement and training cell which is huge but they are mostly IT companies with big brand recognition. Students usually take up Masters in the same college to increase the chances of getting into core biotech company. Where Placements are phenomenal. I will tell you how placements work. Let there be a company and lets name it "Orange". Your PC (Placement Coordinator) approaches this company and invites them for a placement drive at your college. Orange will then confirm by giving their shortlisting criteria. Now in reality, mostly this criteria contains the following:
1. Student must have no back/cleared backs at the time of interview.
2. Student must have more the 80% aggregate in all semesters at the time of interview.
3. Student must be well read about all the company profile.
4. Student must possess good logical and analytical abilities. And so on. Now, your placement coordinator can negotiate with the company for following:
1. The student will have no more than one back in core subjects that he/she will clear by the time of joining.
2. Instead of the 80% criteria, the shortlist will contain the names of the top 20 unplaced students of the batch based on our one placement policy. All resumes will be sent to you for approval. And so on. Based on how much Orange trusts your PC and what is the image/ranking of your college in the market, the company will agree to some of these negotiations and will present some of its own. Most of the time, the companies do not prefer students with uncleared backs, so I would advise you to avoid getting any or clear all before interviews. After this shortlist, Orange will take Written tests (Core subject/Logical Reasoning/Communication Skills/Psychometric Test) based on its policies followed by interviews (Technical and HR). Based on all of this you get a job.

According to the National Institute Ranking Framework, NIT-Warangal ranks 34th among the engineering colleges in India. For Computer Science Engineering, last time (2016-17) out of 108 students who applied to placements from CSE department, 107 students were placed meaning 90.1 percent placement for CSE which is quite an impressive number. For CSE, the minimum salary offered was 3.3 LPA. The average salary was 13.5 LPA and the maximum salary was 20 LPA. All these figures suggest pretty good placements at NIT-Warangal.
