Yes, students need a visa. To obtain the same, you are required to apply at the nearest Spanish embassy and provide all the documents they may need. Also carry an admission letter for the same and submit the application at least 2-3 months in advance.

International students holding a student visa are permitted to take up employment while studying in the country. Students can work upto 20 hours every week and the same cannot be a full-time job. Also, your employer will have to get you a work permit from the foreign office. Those who want to do an unpaid internship will only need their student identity card. Students are likely to come across jobs which require them to hold proficiency in Spanish. So it is a good idea to get yourself enrolled into some Spanish language class if your hold on Spanish is not decent.

To be eligible for getting a student visa in Spain, international students are required to receive an offer letter from one of the colleges and universities in Spain. The offer letter is compulsory for being considered for the Spain Student Visa.
