To make a lasting impression on the reader, select 2–3 extracurricular activities that had a real impact. It could include engaging in:
- A Science club
- Being a part of the cultural fest committee
- Volunteering for social or intern work in your area, and more.
Now, to show real outcomes, you should highlight what you learned as a result, for example, by working in teams, solving problems and coming up with solutions, and eventually showcasing your contribution to society. These instances will reflect initiative and leadership, which are some of the qualities GKS is seeking.

Joint ventures or short-term internships are okay. Just don't promise to permanently move to Korea. The GKS is an international exchange, not immigration. Good approach: "I'd love to intern at a Korean research institution, then apply that experience to innovative contributions at home."

Definitely! Even a minimum level shows effort and respect. Specify self-study, language learning apps, YouTube tutorials, or professional training. Example: "Reached 3 months of weekly training for TOPIK Level 1." Korea values effort and cultural understanding, show yours.

The GKS SOP should not exceed three pages of A4 size, as specified by NIIED rules. A good SOP is 1,200 to 1,500 words, with clear readability and a pinch of white space. Don't include everything – be concise, relevant, and discuss your why

The NC State University acceptance rate for 2025 stands at 41.6% meaning that of 100 students who apply to NC State University admissions the university is likely to offer the opportunity to enroll at the NCSU campus to only about 41-42 students. This makes securing a seat at the university moderately tough.
Meanwhile the NCSU acceptance rate for international students stands at just 22.8%, which is around half of the general acceptance rate. This means that the competition for international students is rather difficult.
