Applicants who do not meet the admission criteria of undergraduate programs at De Montfort University Dubai, can go through one-year foundation courses. These courses are part of the International Year Zero (IYZ) category of DMU Dubai's programs. Through this program, a student will develop English skills, knowledge on specific subject, and study skills. These foundation courses are spread across business, computing, social sciences, and art and design areas. After completing this IYZ program, the student can shift to DMU Leicester, to pursue undergraduate courses in the UK. These courses are customized, leading the students gain foundational knowledge about the undergraduate specialisation they are applying for.

The international students of De Montfort University Dubai have work restrictions, based on their visa regulations. It also depends on employer policies as well. As an international student, one will have opportunities to complete internships with renowned companies who collaborate with DMU Dubai. Students can also find part-time employment on-campus, and can also find part-time work outside of campus. But these are depended on visa restrictions. DMU Dubai supports start-up initiatives and freelance work opportunities which can help the students gain work experience. De Montfort University Dubai charges for accommodation, visa processing fees, and student services fees. Regarding the accommodation, DMU Dubai offers on-campus and outside campus accommodation facilities. These accommodations offer housekeeping, furnished rooms, Wi-Fi, and gym services. There are male and female accommodations which are separate. The student need to apply for Student Residence Visa, and the university offers a 12-month visa which is renewable with proper proof of continuing of studies. Getting Medical Insurance is also compulsory for international students which can lead to extra expense of AED 1399 (INR 32,987.64). Other than these, the students need to pay graduation and ceremonial charges, as well as library and technology fees. The latter is to access various e-learning materials, and technologies required for studies.
