International applicants like all other applicants are required to submit an essay via the Common App for the UG programs. This essay is a personal statement which has to respond to the University of Florida's short-answer supplemental questions.
The students are given the opportunity to highlight their aspirations, goals, values, cultural perspective, and unique experiences. These essay play an important role in the review process. It also aids in marking students beyond the academics.

Yes, international students are eligible to apply at the University of Florida just like the domestic students however they are required to meet certain admission requirements metioned below:
Certified academic transcripts (with English translations if needed)
Proof of English proficiency – TOEFL, IELTS, or Duolingo English Test
Financial certification for visa and funding requirements
Higher English proficiency scores (may be required by some programs)
Holistic review factors: strong academics, extracurricular activities, essays, and recommendation letters

International first-year students are required to meet certain admission requirements which includes a strong high school record ypically including 16 academic units (4 English, 4 Math; Algebra 1 & above, 3 Natural Sciences, 3 Social Sciences, and 2 Foreign Language). UF is test-optional for certain cycles, but competitive applicants usually present strong SAT/ACT scores, high GPAs, and rigorous coursework such as AP, IB, or A-Level classes.
Meeting the above metioned admission requirements are crucial as the University of Florida admissions are tough.

International students are required to follow the same University of Florida admission process as other first-year students from the US. International students are required to submit the official transcripts for the same. Applicants can follow the admission procedure given below:
Step 1: Apply online with the Common Application and complete the undergraduate application for admission.
Step 2: Submit the non-refundable University of Flordia application fee.
Step 3: Submit official transcripts and examination results to Admission Services.

While the University of Florida is considered part of the best public universities in USA, it is not among the top 5. UF ranks #7 among all public universities in the country and #30 among all universities in USA, per US News and World Report.
Among the institutes ahead of UF are: UCLA, UC Berkeley, Uni Michigan-Ann Arbor, University of Virginia, University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill and UC San Diego.

The University of Florida QS Ranking is #212 in the world for the year 2026. The university's QS ranking has seen an improvement in its rank from the previous year when it ranked #215.
Florida University performs better when it comes to rankings given by US News and World Report, where it ranks #109 as part of the "Global Universities" category for the year 2025.
