The official newspaper of UH is known as The Cougar. It is a student-run newspaper and has been established in 1934. The newspaper is one of the university's the oldest traditions. The Daily Cougar prints every Wednesday during the Spring and Fall semesters and online daily. Yes, UH is safe and the UH Police Department strives to make students feel safe on campus by offering excellent police and security services. Additionally, there is an official emergency alert system of the university namely UH Alert which is used to provide prompt notification to students or staff in the event where there is a condition that may threaten the health and safety of those on-campus.
