To take admission to Houston University as an international freshman student, the applicants must have no college coursework. The students must have an equivalent GPA of 3.0 or higher. Also, they must meet the English language requirements. For graduate courses, the applicants must check the individual course website. Besides this, the applicants should also submit the application materials like academic transcripts, evidence of English language proficiency score, copy of current passport page, financial documents, etc.

The University of Houston is one again ranked among the nation's Top 75 public universities in 2025 as per a top-ranking publisher. Even though there was a slight shift from the last year's rank No. 70, UofH has continued to make noteworthy changes in key student success metrics, that remain primary to the university's mission of improving educational outcomes. Also, in the National Universities category, the university ranks at No. 144. Earlier in 2024, this university ranked in Top 50 in Forbes ranking.

The University of Houston is named one of the Top 50 public universities for 'Best Value' in the latest rankings in the Princeton Review in 2023. Ranking at no. 44 among the public schools, Houston University ranks at No. 44 was recognised for its outstanding academics, affordable cost and strong career prospects for graduates. For UG students, the out-of-state tuition fee is USD 27,926 (Around INR 24 lakh) for the academic year 2023-25 (two 15-hour semesters).

  • The applicants are required to have passed a High school record. A GPA of 3.0 or higher is required
  • Proof of English language proficiency score

Despite a slight shift from the last year's ranking, Houston Uni has continued to make significant strides in important student success metrics, that remain central to the university's mission of improving educational outcomes. These 2025 ranking are the outcome of UH improved 6-year graduation rate, now at 65%. Also, the university's one-year retention rate also saw improvement. University of Houston accepts admission of students with a GPA on a range of 3.0 to 4.0 . However, it is recommended to maintain a GPA between 3.5 to 4.0, considering the past year's admissions. 

Candidates must be proficient in english and qualify in the entrance tests for the same.
