Wageningen University aims to attract excellent students who have a chance of doing a PhD after their MSc. It is basically for international MSc students starting an MSc program. This scholarship is based on invitation. It is not possible to apply directly.

To apply for the University of Wageningen, the applicants can apply via studielink. Then, upload the documents at the Wageningen University application portal (Osiris). The general application steps are given below:
- First of all, apply via studielink and then, upload the documents over Osiris
- Then, complete the study choice check (online questionnaire)
- Then, submit the certified documents
- Next, pay the tuition fees
- After the university has received the admission documents and students have paid the tuition fees, WUR will start the application of your visa /residence permit

As per an unofficial source, Wageningen University and Research Center acceptance rate is between 44% and 55%. This shows that the university is selective during admission. So, the students willing to join this university must meet the entry requirements and submit the application on time. For admission to UG courses, the applicants must have previous education equal to the level of the Dutch Pre-University Diploma. On the other hand, for admission to Master's program, a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a field of Science relevant to the programme is required. According to QS rankings 2025, WUR ranked #3 for Environmental Sciences. For this course, this university ranks at #3 which was ranked #2 in 2024. This shows a slight decline in the rankings, it still ranks among the Top 10 Universities for Environmental Sciences courses.

Also, as per THE rankings, this university ranked at #67 in 2025.As per U.S. News & World Report, this university ranks at #115 in the Best Global Universities category in 2025.

The Wageningen University does not release any data regarding acceptance rate. As per the Admission Office, international students are selected if they fulfil the eligibility criteria. However, as per some unofficial sources, Wageningen University acceptance rate is 55%, which means out of every 100 applications, approximately 55 are selected, which makes it fairly competitive to get selected into the university.
