- On December 11, 1964, Late Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan laid the foundation stone of this 225 acres of land at the Naulakha Parade Ground.
- The University was named after Kailashwasi Shrimant Jiwajirao Scindia and officially birthed on May 23, 1964.
- The University began with 25 affiliated colleges, marking the territorial jurisdiction of the University by spreading the wings through Gwalior, Bhind, Morena, Sheopur Kalan, Shivpuri, Guna and Ashoknagar.
