How to Calculate NTA JEE Main Percentile - Formula and Steps
NTA uses a set formula to calculate the percentile of the candidates in the JEE Mains exam. The steps used to calculate the JEE Main percentile from raw scores of the candidates are given below:
Step 1: Calculation of the raw score
The raw scores of the candidates are calculated using the marking scheme of the JEE Main 2026 exam:
- +4 for each correct answer.
- -1 for each wrong attempt.
- 0 from no attempt.
Step 2: Conversion of raw score into percentile score
The raw scores of the candidates are converted into a percentile score or NTA score in each subject. The total marks out of 300 are also converted to a percentile score using the formulas below:
NTA announced the final percentile after the JEE Main 2026 results for the session 2 exam. After comparing the marks of the candidates from session and session 2, the final marks are decided. The final score is the score which is the highest of both sessions of the exam. Ranking is done based on the final percentile score.
