What is BVDU B-MAT?

Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University, Pune, conducts a management exam for admission to its various PGP courses every year called B-MAT. The registrations for BMAT are conducted online. Candidates who wish to appear for the exam can visit the official website and fill out the application form. The admission test by BVDU is conducted for admissions to various PGP courses. Candidates who qualify for the exam will have to appear for a Group Discussion and Personal Interview for the selection.

Q:   What are the registration dates for BMAT?
A: 

The BMAT application form is released online and the BMAT application form window will be open till April 2026 (approximately). Candidates who wish to appear for the BMAT exam can fill the BMAT application form online and the candidates do not have the option of filing the BMAT application form offline. The complete BMAT application process is online. Check the steps to apply for BMAT below:

  • Visit the official website of Bharatiya Vidyapeeth University and register as new users
  • After successful registration, log in using their login credentials and fill in the other details such as academic details, communication address, etc.
  • Upload all the relevant documents such as the candidate's photograph and signatures
  • Choose the preferred institutes (in order of preference) from the list of the given institutes. Candidates can choose only two institutes
  • Now, pay an application fee online and finally submit the form. 
Q:   What is the eligibility criteria for BMAT?
A: 

The eligibility criteria for BVP BMAT includes:

  1. Candidates must have completed a Bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognisedd university or institute.

  2. Candidates are required to secure a minimum aggregate score of 50% in their Bachelor's degree. 

  3. There is usually no specific age limit prescribed for appearing in the BVP BMAT exam. 

  4. Candidates of Indian nationality are eligible to apply for the BVP BMAT exam. 

  5. The candidate should have completed a minimum of 15 years of formal education (10+2+3 or 10+2+4 basis).
  6. Those whose medium of instruction in Graduation was not English will have to complete an orientation course in English provided by the institutes.
Q:   How long is the BVP B-MAT result valid?
A: 

The BVP BMAT result is valid for the academic year in which you have appeared for the exam. It cannot be carried over to the next academic session. This means, if the candidate has appeared for the BVP BMAT exam in 2026, then the scorecard will only be valid for the academic year 2026-2028 only.

Q:   Do I need to study advanced topics beyond graduation and Class 12 for BMAT exam?

No, for the BMAT exam, candidates are not expected to study advanced topics beyond the Class 12 or graduation level for the BMAT exam preparation. The BMAT syllabus is designed to assess their knowledge and skills at the graduation level, and it covers topics within the standard MBA curriculum. The BMAT syllabus is easy. Although the BMAT exam syllabus is not advanced, regular practice, solving sample papers, and taking mock tests are necessary to ace the BMAT exam. 

Q:   What is the structure of the BMAT question paper?
A: 

The BMAT question paper is divided into four sections. There are 50 multiple-choice questions in each section. The total number of questions are thus 200. Each question is a multiple-choice question and has four options each. The BVP BMAT exam is conducted online in a computer-based test mode. There is no negative markings. Students will not be penalized for marking incorrect answers.

Q:   Which sections have the highest and lowest weightage in the BMAT exam?
A: 

The Abstract and Logical Reasoning section of the BVP BMAT exam has the highest weightage in terms of the questions as well as the marks. There are 50 multiple choice questions which carry one mark each. Then comes the Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension section which has 40 multiple-choice questions and each question carries one mark. The Mathematics section has the third highest weightage with 30 marks in total. The rest of the sections have 20 marks each.

Eligibility Criteria for B-MAT 2025

Following is the eligibility criteria for BMAT 2025:

  • The candidate must be a Graduate with a minimum 50% aggregate in any subject from a recognized university. The criteria is 45% aggregate for SC/ST candidates.
  • Candidates in their final year, are also eligible to apply provided they can submit their graduation certificate by August 2025.
  • The candidate should have completed a minimum of 15 years of formal education (10+2+3 or 10+2+4 basis).
  • Those whose medium of instruction in Graduation was not English will have to complete an orientation course in English provided by the institutes.
  • The candidate should be an Indian national.

Q:   Is BMAT difficult to crack?
A: 

The difficulty level of the BVP BMAT is different for each candidate appearing for the exam. The difficulty of the exam depends on the candidate's preparation level, understanding of the exam pattern, and aptitude required for the field of management.

BVP BMAT tests the Quantitative Aptitude, Current Affairs, Logical and Abstract Reasoning and management skills of the aspirants. Candidates who can prepare themselves to tackle these areas and score well will be able to crack the BMAT exam. 

Q:   What is the sectional time limit of BMAT?
A: 

There is no sectional limit for the BMAT exam. The overall duration of the BMAT exam is three hours or 180 minutes. Candidates have to adhere to the time limit of the exam as extra time will not be given to the candidates and the system will reset after the time is over. There is a total of 200 questions in the BMAT exam, hence, the students are adviced not spend over 2-3 minutes on one question. 

Q:   Is there an age limit or domicile criteria to apply for BMAT exam?
A: 

No, there is age limit to appear for the BMAT exam. The applicant must have however, completed 15 years of formal education (10+2+3 or 10+2+4 basis). Student must also be an Indian citizen to be eligible for the BMAT exam. 

There is no other domicile criteria. But the students applying for the BMAT exam must fulfil the rest of the BMAT eligibility criteria including the academic qualifications, language requirements, etc.

BVP BMAT Syllabus and Exam Pattern 2025

Prescribed by Bharatiya Vidyapeeth University, BMAT syllabus is spread across six sections of the BMAT exam 2025. The syllabus major topics, i.e. English Language and Comprehension, Numerical Ability, Logical Reasoning, Management Skills, Basic Computer Knowledge and Business Fundamentals, and Current Affairs. The BMAT exam is conducted in the computer-based test mode across various test centres. The BMAT exam pattern 2025 is as follows:

BMAT Admission Process 2025

Admission to Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University is subject to performance in BMAT 2025, Group Discussion and Personal Interview (GDPI). The admission cycle begins every year in January and the programme will commence in July. The application process begins in January and continues until March.

STEP 1: Application form

B-MAT 2025 application form can be filled out online by logging on to BVU’s official website. Registration season generally begins in January and admissions are completed by July. To obtain the application form online, the candidates will have to register on the official website as new users.

STEP 2: BMAT 2025 admit card

BMAT admit card will be dispatched by post after the application form is accepted. The candidates can also download their admit cards from the official website from the scheduled date as notified in the admission schedule.

STEP 3: BMAT 2025

BVU conducts BMAT for its MBA programme. This exam is a mandatory step to secure admission at the university. The entrance exams will be of Multiple Choice Questions format carrying subject-specific questions. The exam will be conducted in both computer-based test mode as well as internet-based test mode or online proctored mode. Candidates will be required to choose the mode of examination while filling the application form.

STEP 4: BMAT 2025 results

BMAT 2025 result will be announced on the scheduled date as notified in the admission schedule. The results of entrance exams for different courses will be announced on different dates. The candidates can check their results on the official website

STEP 5: BMAT 2025 GD/PI

Post the release of BMAT 2025 result a merit list is issued with the names of selected candidates. The selected candidates will be called for GDPI held at various campuses of BVU for final selection.

No, there are no subjective-type questions in the BVP BMAT exam. The BMAT question paper only has 200 multiple-choice questions. The total duration of the exam is 180 minutes or one hour. Each question of the BMAT exam has four options and one option among them is correct. There is no negative marking in the BMAT exam, hence, the students have the option of attempting all the questions. However, they must not waste time on one particular question which they are unsure about. Each question carries one mark.

The BMAT 2025 result will be released on April 16, 2025. Usually, the result is released within a week of the BMAT exam. BMAT 2025 exam is shceudled to be conducted on April 13, 2025, in the computer-based test mode. The BMAT result 2025 will be available online and the candidates who appeared for the exam will be able to check their results using User ID and password. 

The counselling process will be conducted on April 22, and April 23.

Q:   What is the reporting time for the BMAT exam at the BMAT exam centre?
A: 

Candidates must report to the BMAT exam centre at least an hour before the commencement of the exam. The BMAT exam will take place in the morning shift at various test centres. Candidates will not be allowed to leave the exam centre before the exam ends. Also, they can not re-enter the exam centre once they have submitted the exam.

Q:   What items can I carry to the BMAT exam centre?
A: 

Every candidate must carry a blue/black ball point pen and a two copies of their passport size photo to the exam centre. They must not carry any stationary item other than the pen. Candidates have to carry drinking water in a transparent bottle. No other item will be allowed inside the exam venue. Candidates must not carry bags or valuables as there will be no arrangement for depositing while candidates appear for the exam. Candidates must also not carry notebooks or rough paper to the BMAT exam centre. Any candidate found with an unauthorised item will be disqualified. Candidates must also carry the BMAT admit card along with a government-issued ID proof. 

Q:   Is the BMAT admit card valid without a photograph?
A: 

No, the BMAT admit card will not be considered valid without a photograph affixed to it. Candidates must paste a recent passport size photograph on the BMAT admit card to make it valid. The candidate's photograph affixed to the BMAT hall ticket must match the photograph uploaded in the BMAT application form. Candidates must paste a coloured photograph on the BMAT admit card.

Q:   What is the marking scheme in BMAT?

The marking scheme for the BMAT exam is as follows:

  1. Total Marks: The total marks for BVP BMAT is 200. 

  2. Correct Answers: Candidates are awarded marks for each correct answer. Candidates are awarded one mark for each correct answer. 

  3. Negative Marking: There is no negative marking for incorrect answers

  4. Unanswered Questions: No marks will be deducated or awarded for unanswered questions

Q:   Is there negative marking in BMAT exam?
A: 

No, the BMAT exam does not have negative markings. Each question in the BMAT exam carries one mark and if the answer is incorrect students will not be penalised for that particular question. If the candidate marks more than one answer for a particular question, the answer will be considered incorrect. To avoid maximum marks deduction, students must attempt the easier question first and then move on to the more difficult ones in that particular section. If the student is unsure about a particular question, they can also skip the question. No marks will be deducted or awarded for unanswered questions.
