The first-year common syllabus of the Goa University BE course is strategically designed to keep your options open and provide a safety net of knowledge. Because you cover the basics of various engineering streams, you develop a "big picture" view of the industry.
In the first year of your BE at Goa University, you are going to study foundational subjects that are common across all engineering branches to build a strong technical base. Students will learn core engineering topics like Applied Mathematics, Engineering Chemistry, Applied Physics, and Basic Mechanical or Electronic Engineering.
After the JEE results are announced, the DTE Goa releases the information brochure and application forms in early May. To seek admission to the BE course of Goa University, it is necessary to fill the application forms correctly and submit them physically to the collection centers by mid-May.
To ensure fair access, Goa University strictly follows the state government's reservation guidelines for its BE admissions. The current seat distribution includes:
27% for Other Backward Classes (OBC).
12% for Scheduled Tribes (ST).

In the Goa University, the passing rates are divergent in both the undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Students under the UG have to pass a minimum of 40 percent aggregate mark on a combination of theory and practical. In respect to PG, both internal and end-of the semester assessment needs a minimum of 50 percent. Such criteria are able to support academic standards and fairness of all courses.

Goa University offers various UG, PG and doctoral-level courses at campur or through affiliated colleges. The university offers UG courses such as BA, BBA, BSc, etc., while all the PG courses such as MBA, MSc, MCom, MCA, etc., are taught through various schools and departments at the university and affiliated colleges. Candidates need to complete a minimum of Class 12 for UG courses and graduation for PG programmes. Further, Goa University also has nine recognised institutes that offer research programmes leading to PhD degrees.
Goa University conducts its entrance exam for some of the courses. These are GU-ART and GU-PET for PG and PhD programmes, respectively. The university also conducts GU-CLAT, GU-QET, GU-CSAT, etc. Besides this, Goa University also accepts national-level entrance exam scores.
