Goa University Course Admissions 2025: Dates, Fees, Eligibility & Selection Process

Goa University offers various UG, PG and doctoral-level courses at campur or through affiliated colleges. The university offers UG courses such as BA, BBA, BSc, etc., while all the PG courses such as MBA, MSc, MCom, MCA, etc., are taught through various schools and departments at the university and affiliated colleges. Candidates need to complete a minimum of Class 12 for UG courses and graduation for PG programmes. Further, Goa University also has nine recognised institutes that offer research programmes leading to PhD degrees.

If a student chooses to withdraw from any of the Goa University programme in which s/he is enrolled,  the following five-tier system shall be followed for the refund of fees remitted by her/him. Find below the refund policy:

Goa University conducts a Common Law Admission Test (GU-CLAT) for admission to BA LLB programme. Besides, candidates must also Class 12 with at least 45% aggregate (40% aggregate for SC/ ST and 42% aggregate for OBC) for BA LLB admission. The university releases a merit list based on HSc and GU-CLAT scores of the aspirants with 50% weightage to each of them.

Candidates need to pass one-year master's degree after a four-year bachelor's degree or a two year master's degree after a three-year bachelor's degree with at least 55% aggregate or its equivalent grade to apply for PhD course at Goa Unievrsity. There is a 5% relaxation in the aggregate for SC/ ST/ OBC-NCL/ PwD candidates)

Aspirants who have completed MPhil programme with a minimum of 55% aggregate can also apply.

Reservation of seats for admission to the various programmes of study shall be based on the Reservation Policy of the Goa State Government. Candidates applying for admission under the Reserved Categories shall be required to submit a valid Certificate to that effect issued by the Officer of the rank of the Deputy Collector or any other authorized Officer as notified by the Government of Goa. Goa University offers two-year courses of MBA (Regular) and MBA in Finacial Services. At Goa University, all of these courses are taught through the Goa Business School. Below is Goa University MBA eligibility:

• Candidates need to complete a bachelor's degree in relevant subject to apply for Goa University MBA programme.
• Graduate in any stream including Commerce, Science, Arts, Engineering, Management and Professionals like CS, CA, ICWA, CMA, CAIIB and CFA, who have completed their graduation from Goa University or any other recognised University in India or abroad are eligible to apply for MBA Financial Services.

Goa University MBBS cutoff 2025 was released for admission in the form of opening and closing ranks for all rounds and categories under the All India quota. 

For the General AI, the last round cutoff was 23562. On the other hand, for the OBC AI category, the cutoff was 16989. Students can refer to the table below to know the first and last round cutoff for all categories. 

Goa University offers several Undergraduate, Postgraduate, Diploma, Certificate, and PhD courses to students. These courses are offered across Science, Management, Commerce, etc. streams. Courses like MBA, MA & MSc are some of popular courses among the students. They are PG level courses offered for the duration of 2 years. 

The fee structure is different for different courses based on the stream and duration of the courses. Additional fees like that of hostels can also be added in the yearly fee structure if one opts for it. Students who have completed a three-year Diploma in engineering can apply for "Lateral Entry" to start directly in the second year. This process is managed by the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Goa, which releases a specific merit list based on your Diploma marks. Once you are allotted a seat in a college under Goa University, you can skip the first-year foundation subjects and jump straight into your chosen BE branch's core technical curriculum.

Yes, students from outside Goa can apply, but most seats are reserved for local residents under the 10-year residency rule. A small percentage of seats are usually available for "All India" candidates, often based on JEE Main scores rather than the local GCET. To ensure fair access, Goa University strictly follows the state government's reservation guidelines for its BE admissions. The current seat distribution includes: 
27% for Other Backward Classes (OBC).
12% for Scheduled Tribes (ST).
10% for the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) of the Un-Reserved Category.
2% for Scheduled Castes (SC).
These percentages apply to both local domicile and All India seats as per the Directorate of Higher Education. 

After the JEE results are announced, the DTE Goa releases the information brochure and application forms in early May. To seek admission to the BE course of Goa University, it is necessary to fill the application forms correctly and submit them physically to the collection centers by mid-May.

Goa University BSc admission is entirely merit-based for the year 2024. Candidates seeking admission to the BSc at Goa University are selected based on their performance in the previous qualifying examinations. Candidates who have passed the Class 12 or equivalent examination with the respective subjects from a recognised Board can apply for admission.
