Offered via six affiliated colleges under Gauhati University, admission to LLM is subject to a university-level entrance exam. As per the official 2022 brochure released by Guwahati University, admission to BTech is completely entrance-based. While 20% of the total seats for BTech are reserved for students who have passed the JEE Main exam (provided that have the official PRC of the state), the remaining 80% of the seats are filled via the pass out students of Assam CEE. Furthermore, students also have an option to secure lateral entry admission directly to the second year of the BTech course. Admission to BTech Lateral Entry courses is subject to a valid score in JLEE Assam exam.
Gauhati University MBA admission is not based on the applicant's merit in graduation. Candidates with a valid score in MAT/CAT/XAT/CMAT/other national-level exam can get admission at the university for an MBA. However, the university has specified a minimum eligibility requirement for MBA admission. Candidates with an aggregate score of at least 50% (45% for reserved categories) in bachelor's degree in any discipline are eligible to apply for the programme. Hence, a candidate scoring less than 60% in graduation can get admission to Guwahati University for MBA, subject to their performance in the entrance exam. Yes, Gauhati University offers a two-year MBA programme across four specialisations, namely Marketing, Finance, HR, Production. Spread over four semesters, admissions to MBA at GU starts in the month of March and the final shortlist is released in the months of May-June. The course is inclusive of a 60-day internship/ in-plant training for them to learn the basics of solving real life problems in business/ industrial organisations. The programme is under full sponsorship of UGC and is recognised by AICTE. Admission to MBA is completely entrance-based. The university conducts its own entrance exam for admission to MBA. However, those with a valid score in the national-level entrance exams are exempted from the university-level tests and are forwarded directly for other selection rounds.
