Candidates who are selected for admission need to confirm their seat by paying the course fee. Here are few things that students will recieve after taking admission in IGNOU:
- Once a students get admission into IGNOU, he or she will recieve the enrollment number and ID for future login to the samarth portal of the university.
- Based on the choice made by the candidate while filling the application form, he or she will then recieve the study material. Soft copy is available on the official website of the university.
- Registered students also recieve a mail from the regional or study centre for counselling. It is an induction ceremony where the course is introduced to the students.
- A schedule of classes is also shared through mail. For any query regarding classes, students must contact their study centre.
As per the official brochure released, a student is allowed to pursue two academic programmes simultaneously through ODL / Online mode, as per the illustration given below.

STEP 1: IGNOU BSc Application Process 2026
The IGNOU BSc and BSc (Hons) application process is completely online. Candidates willing to apply must visit the official website and apply. A step-by-step process of IGNOU application for BSc is as follows:
1.1: Go to the official website of IGNOU and apply
Those willing to apply to courses that require a university-level entrance are required to fill out the exam form of IGNOU.
1.2: Fill in the user name and password and click on the 'Submit' button. The user name is then instantly sent to the candidate via email or SMS.
1.3: Then click on 'Login' button and fill the application form.
1.4: Pay the application fee and submit the form. The application fee for IGNOU courses is INR 300.
STEP 2: Selection
The selection for admission to the PB BSc Nursing course is through the OPENNET exam. Admission to other courses is carried out on a merit basis. After the exam, a selection list shall be published to declare names of candidates eligible for admission. Candidates can check out the IGNOU admission status page to know their application status. IGNOU also notifies students about their admission confirmation or rejection through an email and a text message in the next two months.

No, for admission to PB BSc nursing at IGNOU, students are required to apply and appear for a written test conducted by the university followed by a counselling session. Aspirants who meet the eligibility requirements need to appear for IGNOU OPENNET exam. Candidates get a seat in the course based on the exam score. The entrance test is conducted in offline mode via OMR sheets. Duration of the exam is 2 hours 30 minutes.
Candidates can fill out exam form IGNOU on the official website of university. The Term End Exams are held twice in a year-June and December. Candidates are required to appear once. The students need to visit official website and register with an application fee for term end exam. The registration fee varies with course.
