Jaypee University of Information & Technology, Solan was established in the year 2002. It offers 7 specializations under the B.Tech program, 4 under M.Tech, and 8 under the Ph.D. program. B.Tech is a full-time undergraduate programme of four years with a total of 510 seats. M.Tech is a two-year full-time course with an intake capacity of 18 seats per specialization. JUIT offers Ph.D. as both full-time and part-time. Candidates also have the choice of sponsored Ph.D.

The University has released the placement statistics for the BTech batch 2019-23. So far, the the highest package and average package offered to BTech courses during placements 2023 stood at INR 44.14 LPA and INR 7.01 LPA, respectively. Jaypee University of Information Technology (JUIT), also known as JUIT Solan, basis its admission through a merit based system or entrance exams for certain courses. Yes, Jaypee University of Information Technology follows reservation guidelines as issued by the Government of India. A certain percentage of the total seat intake of each course is reserved for various categories, such as SC/ ST/ EWS/ PWD, etc. Further, the university also reserves seats for its BTech students belonging to certain categories. JUIT Solan reservation policies for its BTech course are as follows:

• Kashmiri migrants/ Kashmiri Hindu families living in Kashmir valley as per the guidelines of MHRD
• Supernumerary seats for candidates who have the PM cares for children scheme certificate 
• 10% of the seats are reserved for candidates belonging to Himachal Pradesh
• 10% of seats are reserved for wards of serving/ retired ex-servicemen and Paramilitary Forces personnel

JUIT Solan accepts JEE Main scores for admission to B.Tech. For Biotechnology and Bioinformatics, 50% of seats are filled through JEE Main and the remaining 50% through merit in the qualifying examination.
