LNMU admission to all the popular courses, such as BTech, BEd, MBA and PhD is subject to a valid score in university/ state/ national-level entrance exams or is subject to counselling conducted by the university. However, to get a clear insight on the direct admission policy, students are advised to get in touch with the university admission office.

The modes of Lalit Narayan Mithila University admission are offline and online. Admission to various postgraduate and undergraduate programmes is based on merit and scores of entrance tests. At the undergraduate level, the university offers a four-year B.Tech and various other courses to students. At the postgraduate level, Lalit Narayan Mithila University provides two-year MA, MSc, 18-month to two-year MBA, and various other courses to students. Lalit Narayan Mithila University also provides Certificate, Ph.D., and post-doctoral courses to students. The candidates must apply early as the seats are limited and the competition is very high. 

 Lalit Narayan Mithila University conducts PAT for accepting admission to the programme in September, every year. However, candidates with a valid UGC NET/ CSIR NET/ GATE score or teachers of LNMU and its affiliated colleges or non-teaching employees of LNMU with over five years of working experience are exempted from PAT and are granted direct admission provided that they fulfil the PhD eligibility criteria.
