Master of Journalism and Mass Communication - Batch of 2026
3.4

Affordable quality education.
Placements: There are quite limited seats with a 14 percent placement rate. There is only one way to go on with this course as it is very cheap and is a government-sponsored university. There is no placement which means there are no top companies to recruit. Every student has to go for a mandatory internship. Many go for government-based organisations like Doordarshan, PIB, CDIT, and some others in startups in Technopark. Few go to media organisations like News18, Mathrubhumi, Asianet, and The New Indian Express. There are no specific roles as such many go for being journalists, public relations, corporate communication, or advertising.
Infrastructure: There is no proper Wi-Fi yet acquired. There are labs with enough systems, but no studios, an ample amount of cameras, and other practical equipment. Classrooms are decent. The building is being renovated and it will have more facilities soon. There is a decent library with a good collection of references. You can also use the campus library and university library which is the best part of being a student here. The university provides its own hostel which is very affordable and is inside the campus but only people from outside the district have a chance to be admitted to the hostel. Food is average. The medical facility is poor.
Faculty: Faculty are remarkable resource people. Curriculum is poorly designed with a lack of anything and an abundance of many. Semester exams won't feel difficult until the faculty members want them to be difficult for us. Papers are really hard to cover. Curriculum is academically relevant but it does little to make students industry-relevant.
Other: Purely out of interest I took the course. I hope this course improves to give students the best opportunities. Campus events are very fun and cool. There are various opportunities for scholarships but you have to look for them. There is enough time for you to pursue some extra hours along with the course.

Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com.) - Batch of 2027
Offered by Mar Ivanios College (Thiruvananthapuram)

Quality academics, average life.
Placements: At Mar Ivanios College, 30–50% of B.Com students are placed. The salary packages range between 2 LPA and 22 LPA. The average salary package offered is 3 LPA- 5 LPA. Top recruiters include Federal Bank and South Indian Bank. 30–50% of students got internships in EY (Ernst & Young). Roles offered include banking, accounting, sales, and analysis.
Infrastructure: Mar Ivanios College has classrooms, Wi-Fi, labs, and a good library. The hostel has a basic mess/canteen. They are average. They have basic medical aid. They have decent sports & games. Good atmosphere and couple-friendly with freedom to speak. We love the campus, and it's also a nice, environment-focused campus.
Faculty: At Mar Ivanios College, teachers are qualified and helpful. The teaching is good, but mostly theory-focused. The University of Kerala curriculum is relevant but not fully industry-ready. Exams are moderate, with a pass rate of about 80–95% friendly teachers.
Other: Choose B.Com at Mar Ivanios College for a strong commerce base. They have good faculty, campus, events & crowd. We need more practical exposure & internships. There is good connectivity, a green campus, scholarships & active extracurricular activities.

In my college, we have no good roads and no good transport facilities.
Placements: 5 students are placed in my course. The package offered in my course from college is ten thousand to twenty-two thousand. The top recruiting company from my course is the Toyota company. 5 students got internships in Toyota company. The roles offered in my course are electronics.
Infrastructure: The facilities in my course are good. We have a good lab with Wi-Fi connection, and we have a good classroom. In my hostel, we get good food and good meals, and we get good medical facilities when we need them. We have sports and games in my hostel, and I love my hostel.
Faculty: The teacher is helpful, qualified, and knowledgeable, and helps students in their studies. The course is irrelevant to the students because after passing the course, we can’t get jobs in the industry. Highly difficult semester exam in this college, we need a mark of 28 to pass the course.
Other: I chose the course because the teacher told me to take it. Please improve the good teachers and the good lab with AC, and please reduce the subjects, then only students will take the course. In our college, we had good events and fest and we have a good campus.

Overall its a good campus. The only negative I felt is that there is no playground.
Placements: Am a 1st year Mechanical Engineer student. For my branch, around 20-40% of the students get placed, which is less compared to other branches. The average salary package for mechanical engineering will be around 6 to 8 LPA, whereas the highest would be around 12 LPA, and the lowest would be around 4 LPA. The top recruiting companies include Tata Elxsi, IBM, Oracle, EY, and several other IT-based companies that hire mechanical Engineers. About 50 - 60% of the students get internships from companies like Tata Elxsi, Accubits, TCS, Infosys, etc. Top roles include design engineer, Quality engineer, etc.
Infrastructure: The college has good infrastructure facilities. This college has one of the largest mechanical workshops compared to other government colleges in Kerala. It has a good lab facility, a good classroom atmosphere, a library with a wide variety of books, clean washrooms, etc. The college canteen is small and doesn't have much variety of food, but the food that is provided is overall good. This college has active teams in almost every sports event, but there is no playground in the college, which is its biggest negative. The college doesn't have a hostel facility. But several hostels and rent house are available in the nearby locality.
Faculty: This is one of the few government colleges in Kerala where all the faculty of the Mechanical Engineering department hold a doctorate. Thus, the quality of faculty is very good. The course curriculum is based on KTU. The syllabus is updated every 4 years. The semester exams have become tougher in recent years. The pass percentage of students in the mechanical engineering batch is around 60%.
Other: The annual flagship cultural fest of the college is called Cult A Way. It's a grand event for which every SCTian is waiting. It's a 3-day event mainly taking place during the month of April or May. It's one of the biggest college cultural festivals in Kerala. For more about it you can check the office Cult A Way instagram handle.

SCTCE is good when it comes to academics.
Placements: Honesty, placements are not that good. Core companies rarely show up for Auto, so most of us just end up in mass recruiter IT jobs. SCT is good at academics, but the degree alone is useless. If I don't grind coding or Machines learning on the side, I'm not getting a job.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is average. Campus is tiny, basically a school with no ground for football. Auto labs are decent, there's alot of KSRTC buses. There isn't any college hostel but college approved private hostels. Facilities are bare minimum but the college is located in a city.
Faculty: Faculty is good. Most of them are highly qualified. Half of them are good at teaching but the other half have massive ego issues. The Auto syllabus is alright. KTU exams are just a scam to give us supplies. I spend more time writing records than actually learning anything.

It is a place where we can find ourselves to lead a long life.
Placements: About 50 percent of students get placed in our course. Different types of grants are given to students, such as Fisher's, E-grant, etc. Companies like HDFC Bank, Axis Bank, Reliance, etc., recruit students from our college. About 5 months of internships are given. The course offers a vast scope in agricultural, farming, and business fields.
Infrastructure: The college is surrounded by greenery. There is fresh and cool air as the campus is filled with a lot of trees. Clean toilets are also available. There are classrooms with projectors and high infrastructure. It provides tasty and quality food. There is a speed Wi-Fi all around the college that can be connected to, and even when standing outside.
Faculty: Teachers are harsh sometimes, but they help with studies. The pass percentage is 75 percent. Semester exams are hard. Students find it somewhat difficult to study portions as teachers take the class fast and put tests early. The teaching quality is somewhat okay.
Other: A lot of cultural activities, bands, sports, events, and fests are conducted in the college. It is one of the best colleges in India. If we choose English, then we can enjoy the college, and with teachers also, we will have the same vibe.
