The university offers BA LLB course admission based on the CLAT 2024 score. The total number of seats offered through CLAT 2024 are 214 seats. 

For admission to BA LLB (Hons) course at RGNUL candidates have to register through CLAT portal. Registered candidates for CLAT 2024 counselling will be called by RGNUL through five provisional merit lists, each released by the Consortium of CLAT. Students seeking admission to UG and PG courses offered at National Law Universities (NLUs) can apply for CLAT 2024 on or before Nov 3, 2023 since the applications are currently ongoing. The Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law offers courses at UG, PG and doctoral levels. The university offers five-year integrated BA LLB (Hons), One-year LLM and a PG Diploma course. The university offers admission to the flagship course (BA LLB) based on CLAT score. The selection for PG Diploma is based on merit of the candidates in the last qualifying exam.

Candidates need to pass graduation in the relevant discipline from a recognised university with at least 50% aggregate (45% aggregate for SC/ ST/ PwD) to apply for RGNUL PG Diploma course. Aspirants who complete graduation degree in any stream for prison personnel can also apply for PG Diploma course.

Every year, the cut off marks for the CLAT exam are affected due to the following factors:

• The difficulty level of the exam. In case the question paper is easy then the CLAT cut offs are expected to go high and vice-versa.
• Total number of applications received. If the total applications received are less then the cut off is expected to be relaxed. 
• Total candidates qualifying CLAT exam. If the total number of qualifying candidates is less than the total seats then cut off goes low
• Total number of seats. If the total number of seats is revised and increased then cut off is expected to remain low
• Previous year cut offs. For the top NLUs, the cut-off marks in previous years were high, therefore, only topper candidates could make it for final admissions. Fore other NLUs, the cut off marks are relatively low.
