Frequently Asked Questions

Q:   Is 70 a good score in AILET for BA LLB (Hons) admission at NLU Delhi?
A:

The National Law University Delhi accepts the AILET entrance exam, followed by a counselling round for admission to its BA LLB (Hons) and LLM courses. As per Round 1 of the AILET 2025 cutoff, the closing rank for the BA LLB (Hons) course was 53, which is less than 70. So, if a candidate wants to secure a seat at NLU Delhi, they should target securing a rank up to 50 to improve their chances of getting a call from NLU Delhi for admission. Candidates can refer to the table below to view the NLU Delhi BA LLB (Hons) cutoff 2025 for different categories:

Q:   What is the score required for NLU Delhi?
A:

NLU Delhi cutoff 2025 for admission to the LLM course has been released across multiple spcecialisations as opening and closing ranks. During the release of the third cutoff list, the closing rank for the LLM course was 45 for the students belonging to the General AI quota. In the first round, the cutoff rank was 41. So, considering the cutoff ranks upto three rounds for LLM, it is advisable to target a rank up upto 45 and lower to improve your chance of getting admission at NLU Delhi.

Q:   Can students join National Law University directly without any entrance exam?
A:

No, students generally cannot join National Law University (NLU) directly without any entrance exam. Admissions to NLUs for undergraduate law courses, such as the 5-year Integrated BA LLB program, typically require students to clear national-level entrance exams like the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) or the All India Law Entrance Test (AILET).

These entrance exams are the primary mode of admission to NLUs and other law colleges in India. Some private colleges may offer direct admission through management quota for students who have qualified the 10+2 or equivalent examination with a certain percentage of marks, but this is not the case for NLUs

For example, NLU Delhi conducts the AILET for admission to its B.A.LL.B. (Hons.) programme .

Similarly, the National Law School of India University (NLSIU) conducts the NLSAT-LLB for its 3-year LL.B. (Hons.) programme .

Therefore, entrance exams are generally a mandatory requirement for admission to NLUs.

Q:   What is the placement scenario at NLU Delhi?
A:

NLU Delhi has a decent placement rate, with students from almost all the courses getting placement assistance. During the 2023 placement session, 69 students were placed from the BA LLB (Hons) courses and 50 students were placed from the LLM course. Further, the median package offered during NLU Delhi LLM placements 2023 was INR 12 LPA. The key highlights of NLU Delhi placements for the Class of 2022 and 2023 are tabulated below:

It is a good college and has good value for money.
Placements: In our college, almost all students are placed. The highest salary package offered is 20 LPA and the lowest salary package offered is 12 LPA. Foreign firms come to the campus for recruitment. They offered a salary package worth more than 40 LPA.
Infrastructure: We have air-conditioned classrooms. The hostel rooms have air conditioning. There is a paucity of rooms in the hostels currently, but the college administration has assured us that they are working on the same and new hostel buildings will be constructed soon.
Faculty: Our college teachers are excellent. Our college provides us with the best law faculty members in India. The course curriculum is relevant, and it makes students industry-ready. The semester exams are not easy but most students pass them.

Everything in the college is awesome, and I highly recommend it.
Placements: The college provides top-quality education in all courses because there are India's best teachers. You'll get a chance to learn from them. 80% of students get internships. The highest package offered is around 20 LPA, and the lowest package is around 4.5 LPA, and the average package is around 7 LPA from the top judicial public and private firms in India.
Infrastructure: There are lots of facilities in the hostel. I suggest everyone take admission here. The college has good facilities and services like Wi-Fi, labs, library, rooms, and top-quality food. Students feel like they are at their home.
Faculty: Students get top-quality education here because teachers are highly qualified and experienced. They are very helpful and motivate the students. They help students in every situation. In almost every course, students get high packages. I would say this college provides a bright future to its students. Semester exams are not much easy, but the quality of knowledge students get helps them pass easily. The passing percentage is 33%.
Other: As I am interested in becoming a good lawyer, I went to this college. This course gives me satisfaction and provides a going future in the judicial area, but I think this course is a bit more time taking than usual, so they need to improve this. All other facilities are top-notch.

Disappointment with the administration of the college.
Placements: In the current batch, we saw a 34% placement rate with 12 PPOs. The highest package was 90 lakhs, while the lowest was 10 lakhs. The top law firms in India come to the college for placements. There are Rhodes Scholars in our college, and some students are placed as researchers at the Supreme Court.
Infrastructure: The facilities provided in the Academic Block are good, but the hostel facilities are lacking. Sometimes the AC might leak, and there can be issues with the water cooler. The campus has many cats and dogs, which affects hygiene. The quality of food is okay, but the sports and games facilities are inadequate.
Faculty: Some teachers are really good and qualified, while others are not. The curriculum of the course is relevant. The difficulty level of the semester exams has increased in this college, and now a student receives an 'O' if they score above 90, while the pass percentage is 50.
Other: I chose this course because law interests me; it helps me understand where I will be standing in the next few years, depending on the laws of the country. However, this college doesn't hold many fests.

Review of NLU Delhi (NLUD) - National Law University.
Placements: This year's cutoff was 96.5% or more. The highest salary package offered is 16 LPA, the median salary package offered is 9 LPA, and the minimum salary package offered is 6 LPA or 7 LPA. Companies depend on your field in LL.B. at Least 87% is required for internship and it is not fixed. The top roles offered are judge and experience and victory of a lawyer.
Infrastructure: Everything is good including all facilities like Wi-Fi on the whole campus and there are digital classrooms. My friend lives at the hostel and the hostel facilities are good including a clean mess with good quality food. Sports are also there and students who are from sports quota get priority there.
Faculty: Lecturers in our college are very kind to students. But students misbehave with them and I don't know the reason for it. No doubt teachers are very helpful and kind. They are qualified in many fields. As the Indian education system doesn't have practicality, I can't say that it will make students industry-ready because experience speaks. All you need to do is get into the industry from a small level.
Other: I chose this course because of my interest in law. Events like the annual fest and many more are held in this college.

Good and comfortable infrastructure, faculty, and hostel; would recommend.
Placements: A total of 55 students were placed this year out of the 80 who appeared for placements on Day Zero. 3 got PPOs during their internships. However, afterwards, 16 other students were placed in Day 1 and 2 interviews. 5 students were placed internationally in Singapore, the USA, and Italy. The average package observed was 22 LPA. Top recruiting firms were HSF, Khaitan and Co., etc.
Infrastructure: 24x7 Wi-Fi everywhere. Air-conditioned hostels for boys and girls with separate mess, gym, and common rooms. 24x7 Wi-Fi and air-conditioned library. Reading rooms and good hostel standards. Excellent food with maintained hygiene. Cafeteria and Amul shop. Multipurpose court and average sports facilities. Medical room and 24x7 ambulance service.
Faculty: Most teachers are extremely qualified and intelligent, and you learn a lot from them. The curriculum is also highly relevant. The teaching quality of the faculty is average, with some teachers teaching extremely well. Also, the exams: Questions are practical and test practical knowledge and understanding of the topic too. The semester exams are fairly difficult, but with avid time management and hard work, they are manageable. The pass percentage is 50%. However, you get a lot of opportunities to pass the exams if you have failed once.
Other: The college offers excellent campus life, senior-junior interaction, and faculty. However, the administration could be improved. The college provides numerous opportunities, but students must take initiative. The name tag helps with internships and jobs, but performance is key for callbacks. Various activities and events prepare students for society. The college experience is enriching, with opportunities for growth and development. Students feel satisfied about extracurricular activities.
