A detailed review of Veterinary College, SKUAST-Jammu.

Placements: There are around 4-5 postgraduation seats in each department. Students receive decent salary packages ranging from 5 LPA - 1.5 crore per annum, in many pharmaceutical and feed companies like Intas, Venkys, and Mother Dairy. The university organizes academia-industry meetings to help place deserving students easily.

Infrastructure: Classrooms are digital and laboratories are well equipped with all the equipment for high quality research in pharmacology and toxicology. The college library is huge and contains thousands of books from all sectors of veterinary and animal sciences. Hostels offer single seater, double-seater, and NRI quota rooms, a gym, a mess providing decent food and medical facilities during office hours. There is a large playground for outdoor sports and a hall for indoor games.

Faculty: All professors are highly experienced in their respective fields of science, and most of them have undergone international training in countries like USA, UK, Australia, Japan and the Netherlands. The course structure is highly relevant to the field of pharmacology and students can secure decent packages in pharmaceutical companies. The course is a bit tougher than others but with regular study nearly everyone can succeed.

Other: Veterinary pharmacology is a vast field that offers opportunities in multiple domains, such as the pharmaceutical sector, government sector, academics, and central research organizations. Regular interaction between students from different fields would improve the quality of research and the study environment. The college organizes Vetfest every year, which includes both sports and cultural events, making it an exciting experience. The college is only 13 kilometers from Jammu airport, and surroundings are well-developed. A scholarship of Rs. 5,000 rupees per month is provided to postgraduate students for two years.
