Yes, SKUAST Jammu conducts SKUAST-J Common Entrance Test for admission to UG, PG and PhD courses. It is a three-year exam for UG and two and a half year exam for PG courses. The paper for UG courses contains 180 multiple choice questions with each carrying on mark. In PG, the exam paper have 150 questions each with four options. 

Candidates seeking admission to SKUAST BSc (Hons) must have passed the Class 12 or an equivalent examination from a recognised board with PCB/ PCM/ PCBM/ Agriculture (with Science subjects), besides English with 50% aggregate for OM, NRI/ NRI-sponsored category, and 40% aggregate for reserved categories.

Candidates hailing from states/ UTs other than Jammu and Kashmir & Ladakh can only seek admission under the NRI/ NRI sponsored quota for BSc (Hons) Agriculture, BSc (Hons) Horticulture and against Self Financing, seats for Postgraduate courses kept under the All India Basis category.

SKUAST Jammu does not offer direct admission. Aspirants first need to fill out the application form for the preferred course and then appear for SKUAST-J CET conducted by the university. SKUAST-J CET for UG courses is offered for a duration of three-years. For PG courses, the duration is two and a half year. Once the selection round is completed, the university releases a category-wise merit list. Shortlisted aspirants have to pay a course fee to confirm their seat in the university.

Both universities have good placement records. For instance, the median salary offered to PG (2-year) students during SKUAST placements 2023 stood at INR 28.07 Lakh Per Annum, and the highest package offered was INR 45,000 per month. On the other hand, the average package offered to the 2023 batch of B.A. LL.B. students at AMU was INR 7.5 Lakh Per Annum, with the highest package at INR 10 Lakh Per Annum and the lowest at INR 4 Lakh Per Annum.

The highest package offered at SKUAST (Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir) Jammu is INR 45,000 per month. The average package offered is INR 30,000 per month, with a lowest salary of INR 15,000 per month. The median package offered to PG (2-year) students during Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir placements 2022 stood at INR 28.07 Lakh Per Annum.

SKUAST BSc (Hons) admission 2024 is entrance-based for the academic year 2024. For Free seats and Self Financing seats (State Domicile), admissions are through:

• Common Entrance Test through SKUAST-Jammu
• ICAR quota through All India Counselling by ICAR after CUET
• On the nomination of in-service candidates through state government (only free seats)
• VCI quota through NEET and based on the list provided by the VCI through their counselling portal

For Self-Financing seats under NRIs/ NRI Sponsored/ All India Basis/ Wards of Serving Employees Categories, admissions are through the University itself based on merit in SKUAST-J CET and marks obtained in Class 12 or equivalent examination.

Aspirants are called for counselling along with all documents in original, a set of attested copies of all documents, admit card issued by SKUAST-J and a non-refundable counselling fee. Below are the required documents:

• Domicile Certificate
• Date of Birth Certificate (Marticulation Certificate)
• Marks Certificate of qualifying examination
• Category Certificate, if applicable

SKUAST accepts UG, PG and PhD students on the basis of valid scores in SKUAST J CET exam.  Aspirants applying through ICAT Quota are offered seats through All India Counselling by ICAR after CUET. Admission under VCI Quota is offered through NEET based on the list provided by VCI via their counselling portal. 

Selected candidates after completion of the selection rounds need to come for document verification. Aspirants can bring the below documents during interview or at the time of counselling:

• Date of Birth Certificate (Marticulation)
• Detailed Marks Certificate (Class 12)
