Shiv Nadar University Chennai Course Admissions 2026: Application Process, Eligibility, Fees, Scholarship

Shiv Nadar University Chennai Entrance Examination SNUCEE is conducted for admission to courses offered by SNU Chennai. It is a two-hour duration examination. The entrance test is prepared with questions related to aptitude and core subjects (depending upon the course chosen). So apply early as the competition is high and students applying are many. To pass this exam, students must have a knowledge of the SNUCEE exam pattern and must study the SNUCEE syllabus  with utmost attention.

SNU Chennai offers a three-year PhD course in various specialisations of Engineering/ Technology, Commerce, Management, Science and Humanities. The course is available in the following modes:

• PhD – Full Time
• PhD – Part Time
• Direct PhD in Engineering

The tuition fee for PhD at SNU Chennai is INR 72,000. This fee is sourced from official website/ sanctioning body and is subject to change. Futher, candidates also have to pay for refundable caution deposit of INR 10,000 ( one-time) & admission fee (one-time) of INR 5,000 at the time of admission. The thesis fee will be INR 15,000, which is to be paid at the time of submission of PhD synopsis)

Additionally, the scholars will be provided with free shared accommodation in the hostel and Married scholars will be provided campus accommodation at a nominal rent. 

If a candidate wants to avail of hostel services while doing their BSc at SNU Chennai, then the candidate will have to pay the hostel fees which vary from INR 98,000 to INR 2.32 lakh depending on the type of accommodation chosen.

Hostel rooms are available in single and shared occupancy with air-conditioned and non-air-conditioned rooms. Candidates can also choose if they would want an attached bathroom with their rooms or not. Depending on the type of room chosen the hostel fees are calculated.

SNU Chennai offers only one BSc programme. The programme that the university offers is BSc in Economics (Data Science). It is a full-time three-year graduation programme which combines the triads of Economics, Data Science and Finance.

The programme focuses on using theoretical frameworks to tackle real-life problems and embeds societal problems like unemployment, poverty, inequalities, various aspects of human development, etc. in the curriculum. Candidates applying for the programme can get exposure to AI, Data Science and programming skills, such as R, Python etc.

To get admission in BSc at SNU Chennai candidates must have a minimum of 75% aggregate in Class 12 science stream with Mathematics/ Business Mathematics/ Statistics/ Computer Science as one of the subjects from a recognised school board. The selection for the SNU Chennai BSc programme is through the SNUCEE entrance exam and a Personal Interview.

SNU Chennai offers three specializations under the four-year BTech course. These are Artificial Intelligence & Data Science (AI&DS), Computer Science & Engineering- Internet of Things (IoT), and Cyber Security (CSE). Admission to all these courses are done through a common admission process. Candidates are selected based on a valid SNUCEE score, followed by a PI round.

SNU Chennai PhD admissions 2024 are open for the January Session. The last date to apply for the same was Nov 24, 2023. However, the written exam dates have not been released on the official website. The basic eligibility criteria for admission to various courses offered at Shiv Nadar University is Class 12 with a minimum of 45 percent aggregate to 75 percent aggregate, depending on the course selected. Candidates must have a good score in the accepted entrance exams. For that, students must practice TNEA question papers, SNUCEE syllabus, and GATE question papers. 

The total tuition fee for SNU Chennai BSc is INR 7.5 lakh. If we add all the other fees a student has to pay to get into the university, the cost goes on to INR 7.91 lakh for the duration of the full course. This cost excludes hostel fees and transportation fees of the university. The hostel and transportation fees vary according to the kind of accommodation of the candidate.

The admission fees include a refundable caution deposit of INR 20,000, a non-refundable application fee of INR 1,500, and an admission fee of INR 20,000. The semester fee of the programme comes out to be INR 2.5 lakh per semester which is to be paid over six semesters.

To secure admission into SNU Chennai BSc candidates have to apply online through the university website. The documents required for admission are:

• Class 10 & Class 12 certificates and marksheets
• Character/ School Leaving/ Transfer certificate
• Entrance Exam rank/ score card (if applicable)
• Three passport-size photographs
• Proof of residence
• Aadhaar Card of the student and his/her parents
• Anti-ragging Affidavit signed by both the student and parents (self-attested)

Since BSc at SNU Chennai is an interdisciplinary programme, the university keeps the cohort size less to focus on each individual. To provide hands-on experience and in-depth knowledge of the field there are fewer seats available for the programme.

BSc at SNU Chennai also has a project/dissertation component at the end of the course, which needs the guidance and supervision of a mentor. To give each student enough opportunities to talk to their mentor/faculty SNU Chennai only offers 60 seats in one academic year of BSc.

The dates of SNUCEE exam have been released on the official website of Shiv Nadar University Chennai. The exam will be organized in 3 phases. 

SNU Chennai BTech admissions start with the application process for SNUCEE. Candidates have to apply for the SNUCEE entrance exam to be eligible for admission into the university. The application process starts in March and the exam usually happens between April to June. The exam happens in four phases but candidates can only appear for the exam once.

After candidates have cleared the SNUCEE exam candidates have to appear for the Personal Interview round conducted by the faculty of the institution. It is only after clearing the PI round, that a candidate is eligible for provisional admission.
