Thapar University admission to most of the undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral courses is based on candidates' performance in several national-level entrance exams. For TIET BTech admission, candidates must have class 12 and a valid JEE Main score. Apart from JEE Main, TIET also accepts CAT/XAT/CMAT/MAT/GMAT/GRE/ Thapar Entrance Test for MBA and GATE for ME/ M.Tech admission. 

For the admission to B.E./BTech courses, the Thapar University has released the JEE Main cutoff, wherein, the most and least preferred among the General All India category candidates were B.E. in Computer Science and Engineering and B.E. in Electronics Engineering (VLSI Design and Technology), respectively. The cutoff rank for CSE and EE (VLSI and Tech.) as per the Thapar University JEE Main cutoff 2025, stood at 33379 and 77189 for the General AI category candidates. The University has disclosed the placement rate for UG courses. During 2023 placements, 83% of the UG batch was placed. As per the latest report, the the highest and average package offered during Thapar University placements 2024 stood at INR 1.2 crore per annum and INR 11.38 LPA,  respectively.

TIET admission process includes the submission of the application form, entrance test, release of merit list, counselling process and final fee payment process. The step-by-step application process: 

1- Thapar University Application Process 

Visit the official website of the University and fill application form. The TIET application process is conducted in online mode. Candidates have to register through the official website of TIET to apply for any of the programmes. Below-mentioned steps by TIET application process:

Click on “Admission” and register. 

Fill out the application form by required details. 

Upload a scanned photo and documents 

Pay the application fee online via debit/ credit card or net banking. 

Documents required at the time of admission:

• Class 10 and Class 12 report card
• UG mark sheet (if applicable)
• PG mark sheet (if applicable)
• Date of birth certificate
• Passport-size photograph
• Transfer certificate
• Character certificate

2- Appear for the Entrance Test

Students appear for the entrance test i.e. JEE Main/ NEET for Thapar University BTech admission. 

3- Declaration of the Merit List 

The institute release the merit list along with the entrance test score and branch name.

4- Counselling Process & Fee Payment 

Final step is for counselling after merit list. After counselling students pay the admission fee to confirm their seats.

Thapar University cutoff 2024 has been released for PGDM course through NMAT exam. To get into Thapar University, the required cutoff score for the open category candidates stood at 150 in 2024. As per the Thapar University NMAT cutoff 2024, the last-round cutoff for MBA in Finance course stood at 150 for admission to Thapar University for the General category students in the All India quota. So, the assumed expected cutoff for the upcoming admission session 2025 can stood at  for the General AI category candidates. Although, it is an estimated guess and the NMAT cutoff 2025 is subject to many factors such as competition, difficulty level of the exam, and previous year trend.

To get a seat in the BTech course at Thapar University, candidates can follow two ways, one is entrance-based and another is merit-based. Interested candidates can apply for TIET BTech admission either way. Thapar University's 50% of seats will be filled based on JEE Main scores and the rest 50% is based on the marks secured in the Class 12 examination.
