Healthcare has been one of the main importance for all governments, basically correlated to population progression, rural growth, falling birth-rate, population ageing, economic advance, and social unstable resource exploitation, some social problems have become gradually clear in the healthcare field, some of these bottleneck in healthcare that Artificial Intelligence (AI)-Internet of Things (IoT) may prevent, or can fight most operationally:

  • Health management level and the incapability of responding to an emergency;
  • Severe lack in medical staffs and institutional services especially in rural zones, scarcity of medical facilities, low level of treatment, insufficient healthcare system;
  • Flawed diseases prevention system cannot fulfil the national strategy requirements to defend the health of the citizen resulting in a hefty load on the economy, individuals, families, and State;
  • Insufficient disease prevention and early detection capability

By integrating IoT in healthcare, it was witnessed that not only patient but also a doctor and hospital-acquired gains concerning improved clinical decision making, minimised replication of analytical testing, imaging, and history taking, preemptive cure, quicker disease diagnosis, medication and equipment supervision, cost reduction, improved Patient/ Doctor Collaboration and even reduced hospital stays.

Remote Patient Monitoring-- 30 per cent of patients re-admit into the hospital after surgery. The cause can be the scarcity of watching the patient. Dealing with an emergency is still a bottleneck. Remote patient monitoring can be possible with the association of technology like IoT and artificial intelligence (AI). When AI and IoT work together in healthcare, chances are they will improve operational efficiency in this field. Collecting patient data, analysing it, modeling, and predicting becomes easier and that results in smart and efficient healthcare application of AI algorithms in IoT devices.

Wearable devices and non-wearable devices with embedded sensors can monitor the patient's situation throughout the day and can report the doctor. With the use of AI-IoT based remote health monitoring system following objectives can be attained:

  • Aids deprived rural people to reach out for the doctor so that appropriate direction can be taken and hence lessen the death rate in the rural
  • Lessen travel and hospitalization expenditure
  • On-time access to data by medical staffs upsurges the latent of this application Increasing demand for this type of IoT applications in healthcare as anytime anywhere access is
  • Sends a notification to doctors in emergency or if the patient does not take medicine regularly.
  • Drug management
  • Emergency room wait time reduction
  • Medical staff, patients, and inventory tracking

The Internet has changed the world and IoT will eventually allow patients and service providers to work collectively for more fruitful chronic disease management, deeper involvement, and more open communication.

By incorporating AI-IoT features into medical devices, it ensures to largely enhance the quality and usefulness of healthcare, getting especially high-value care for the elderly, patients with chronic disorders, and those needing consistent observation. There is a rising curiosity in AI-IoT- driven healthcare facilities and wearable, non-wearable medical devices that feature sensors, actuators, and several other mobile communications methods that permit patient data to be unceasingly supervised and transferred via cloud-based platforms. These devices can notify clinicians and nurses of significant changes in vital signs.

As a product, patients with chronic diseases may be unlikely to cultivate impediments, and acute complications may be analysed earlier than they would have been otherwise. For instance, patients suffering from cardiovascular diseases who are being treated with digitalis could be scrutinized around the clock to avoid drug intoxication. Arrhythmias that are randomly seen on an EKG (electrocardiogram) could be easily detected, and EKG data indicating heart hypoxemia could lead to quicker exposure of cardiac problems. The data collected may also enable a more preventive approach to healthcare by providing information for people to make healthier choices. Devices today monitor all kinds of patient behavior – from glucose monitors to fetal monitors to electrocardiograms to blood pressure. And while patients have to often follow up with a physician, the AI-IoT smarter monitoring devices of tomorrow may change that.
