All you need to know about MBA placement process

In the recruitment terminology, placement refers to the successful allocation of a person/student to a job.

Every student studying in degree college or doing Post Graduation from Management Institute is interested in placements i.e. getting a job in private companies or public sector undertakings (PSUs), in the area of their choice. All the B-schools assure 100 per cent placement assistance to the students.

Every good management college has a placement cell which interacts and develops relations with the corporate world by inviting and attracting them to the college campus for talent acquisition. Industry picks up young, potential talented minds and exposes them to various work situations to meet their requirements for future. Most corporates have excellent, well-defined career development and management plans for youngster and moulds them in different functional areas of management such as Marketing, Finance, HR, Operations & IT.

The management colleges along with admitting students for management programmes filter them strictly through the admission selection process. Thereafter, the placement cell plays a critical role in their grooming; so that they become employable. For instance, the placement cell of the IES College of Management arranges for live projects in collaboration with industry experts, summer training and projects. The students also undergo a rigorous Leadership and Team Building module, Aptitude Test, Group Discussions, Mock Interviews, Special coaching by the Mentors. At the end of 36 months, students are ready for executive placements in top-ranking companies, with attractive package/compensation. 

For enhancing the placement prospects, it is important to understand the industry’s expectations from students. Majority of the students who join B-schools are fresher. Industry understands their limitations but expects them to be reasonably good in domain knowledge, general and social awareness. More important, in fact, are the soft skills and behavioural skills like manners, etiquette, communication, teamwork, analysis and decision making. Above all, students must have right attitude and right mind set which helps them in moulding management students with no experience into successful business leaders. Once management students join industry, they are given training and exposure to the relevant industry but attitude is something which cannot be taught.  It has to come from within.

For all MBA aspirants it is important to have “Right attitude and Right frame of Mind” with zest to learn and improve.
