Internship opportunities at NITIE

Internship offering courses:

Internships are an essential component of all the professional courses that are offered at the National Institute of Industrial Engineering (NITIE). That’s why it is mandatory for every student to participate in an internship at some point during their time at the institute. In 1971, NITIE was considered to be a prestigious institute in our country, and hence it began offering courses like the Post Graduate Diploma in Industrial Engineering (PGDIE). Since then, the institute has not looked back and has continued to expand its course offerings in order to provide the nation and the world with some of the most qualified professionals in the industry.

Stipend, duration, and top recruiters:

Internships are typically scheduled in the months of April and May ongoing till, the middle of June. Students are asked to enroll themselves in these internship programmes for the MBA program, which is between a minimum of 6 weeks and a maximum of 2 months, in order to be eligible for the Summer Internship Program (SIP), which is completed within that time frame.

NITIE has witnessed a sharp rise in the number of businesses interested in providing summer internships over the course of the placement season. Corporates from a wide range of industries have proposed a tonne of other offers, the majority of which are in the areas of marketing and recruitment. Some of the top recruiters on our campus include the following:

• Pidilite Industries Ltd.
• Walmart
• ITC
• American Express
• Amazon
• McKinsey
• Abbott

This year, the company's stipend has increased significantly, with the most generous stipend currently standing at approximately INR 3.5 lakhs. The average consolidated stipend for the last two months has increased by 21% to around INR 2.5 lakhs. This is relative to the previous year. This year, the industries of Banking, Financial services, and Insurance are the most sought-after by major corporations for summer internships (BFSI). This industry is leading because it receives roughly 40% of the batch, putting it in a favourable position. The information technology and analytics industry is the runner-up for best placement industry in our cohort, having placed approximately 15% of our graduates. Furthermore, students at NITIE have proved to be significant in each and every domain they have been placed in since inception, and hence companies are attracted to select students for mutual benefit.

The process of internship:

The internship process starts with admission to the institute as this requires building of the resume and then grooming of the students by the various committees in order to be effective and efficient at the time of interview. Students need to go through rigorous training and mentorship sessions held by their mentors to groom themselves for the interviews. Then comes the resume-building part. The placement committee collects all the CVs and then goes through each and every CV, asking students to rectify any errors or additional information needed to be poured in. After that, it's placement week, where each and every student needs to go through the placement process, choosing from a diverse set of companies that require different skill sets through different hiring processes. During this week, almost 95% of the batch was placed. Within a week or two, the entire placement process will be completed.
