IIM Mumbai Admission 2025 FAQs
For PGDIM course admission, candidates must have satisfy the eligibility criteria and appear for the CAT entrance exam. Indian candidates are shortlisted for the group discussion (GD) and personal interview (PI) process based on their valid CAT scores subject to meeting the minimum eligibility criteria. On the other hand, international candidates are shortlisted for the group discussion and personal interview process based on GMAT scores, IELTS/ TOEFL (applicable for foreign candidates) and 60% aggregate marks in the qualifying degree.
Being one of the renowned institutes of India, IIM Mumbai has been ranked by multiple organisations under various categories. Some of the IIM Mumbai rankings are as follows:
- 7th by the NIRF Ranking 2023 (Management category)
- 401-600 under the Impact category by the Times Higher Education 2023
IIM Mumbai has highly qualified faculty. Most of the faculty are PhD and Masters degree holders. CIT also invites faculty for guest lectures and offer an opportunity to students to interact with some of the best personalities. At present, there are more than 100 faculty members and most of them are doctorates.
Earlier, there was no IIM in Mumbai. But now NITIE Mumbai has been renamed to IIM Mumbai. The institute has been ranked 7 under ‘Management’ category by the NIRF in 2023. NITIE has always been at par with IIMs when it comes to Management category rankings. As per the report by Hindustan Times "As per the gazette published by the Ministry of Law and Justice, NITIE will continue to function until a new board is constituted for IIM under this act. After the constitution of a new board under this act, the old board will dissolve."
IIM Mumbai MBA in Operations and supply chain management offers a blend of core and elective subjects under the curriculum. Moreover, most of the core subjects are assigned a credit score of three. The names of the offered core subjects are as follows:

IIM Mumbai offers various courses, namely Post Graduate Diploma in Industrial Engineering (PGDIE), Post Graduate Diploma in Industrial Management (PGDIM) and Post Graduate Diploma in Sustainability Management (PGDSM), Post-Graduate Program for Executives for Visionary Leadership for Manufacturing (PGPEX-VLFM) and Fellow programme. Apart from this, the institute also offers certificate and global certificate programmes to its students.
The IIM Mumbai Admission Test (IMAT) is an online exam based on the CAT (Common Admission Test) exam pattern conducted by IIM Mumbai as part of the admission process for the Executive MBA. IMAT exam provides an alternative for those seeking admission without the CAT/ GRE/ GMAT scores. The IMAT shall be for 100 marks and 90-120 minutes.

IIM Mumbai offers financial assistance in the form of financial assistance to PhD scholarships. During the first and second years of the PhD, students get INR 37,000 per month. Stay in hostels is not mandatory in IIM Mumbai. It's depends on you if you don't want to take hostel, then you can live outside but I think in IIM Mumbai, for some courses like PGDIE, PGDIM hostels are compulsory.
