Torrent Gas is a part of Torrent Group Companies, which is one of the leading brands in India that provides services in two critical fields, i.e., healthcare and power. It has a presence in seven states and one Union Territory in India, covering 32 districts.
Designation: Students of SLIET were hired for the post of Graduate Engineer Trainee (GET). After the completion of that, the position of Executive Engineer was enlisted.
Qualification: Mechanical and Civil branch
Students from Mechanical and Civil branches with a minimum aggregate of 60% in overall academics (10th, 12th and B.Tech) with no active backlogs were eligible to participate in this campus drive.

The B Tech programme at Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering and Technology is well-liked by students. Approximately 110 firms offered a median package worth approximately INR 4 Lakhs to B Tech students during the Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering and Technology Placements 2023. Compared to the last three years, it has increased. About 80–85% of the students who were placed were in the IT sector.
Sant Longowal institute of engineering and technology is a popular university in Punjab. It offers various courses including B tech, M tech, BE, ME, MBA, MSc etc. Other than these courses it also offers some Diploma courses and specialisation in various disciplines. Sant Longowal institute of engineering and technology is a well known institute located in Sangrur of Punjab state. It offers various courses including B tech, M tech, BE, ME, MBA, MSc etc. and some specialisation courses in various disciplines. Placements records in this institute is quite well and good. Around 80 to 85% students from IT courses and around 70 to 75 % in the core disciplines got placements last year which is a great number and achivement. The highest package was around 18 to 19 Lacs per annum in the year 2022.
Both the institutes Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering and Technology, and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University are well to pursue higher studies. However, when we talk about the placements offered and compare them, then for B.Tech-M tech courses the package range is INR 4-19 Lakhs approximately in Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering and Technology and around INR 4.5-25 Lakhs in Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University which is better than the former. Also the placement rate in SMVDU is greater than in SLIET. Also the growth rate in the number of placements is also better in SMVDU which is 28 % than 13% of SLIET. So we can say that placement report of SMVDU is better than SLIET.

Number of participants: A total of 41 students registered for this placement drive. These students were all from the Mechanical branch for the academic year 2017–21.
The Number of Rounds: There were 4 rounds in the selection process, which are enlisted below:

- HR interview round
The online test was conducted on the WHEEBOX platform under AI video screen and image proctoring. The test consists of 50 multiple-choice questions from technical and reasoning topics.

Each question has an equal weightage consisting of 1 mark, and for wrong and incorrect responses, a negative marking of 1/3rd of the total marks. The topics asked in the online test were from the theory portion of technical subjects. Most of the questions were one-liners with one word answers. After clearing the written test, students were called for the next round of group discussion. In this discussion round, time slots were given to a student and groups were created by the HR executive. A group of five students was formed randomly, and they were allowed to participate in the group discussion. This discussion round was conducted online via Zoom meeting due to the pandemic situation. During this round, a random topic was given at that instant, and each participant was given one minute to prepare themselves before starting the discussion. This round lasted about 5 to 6 minutes. The panel in this round consists of two members from the HR department of the company. Those students who qualified in these 2 rounds were allowed to participate in the next interview round.
Number of Interviewers: The interview panel consisted of four members, two from technical backgrounds and two from non-technical backgrounds.

Strength of students: From the first two rounds, eight students were selected for the PI round from the mechanical branch.
Duration of Interview Round: The interview round was the last round for the selection. Firstly, the technical interview was held post which the HR round of interview was held, and both were conducted online in a Zoom meeting. The duration for both rounds was about 15 to 17 minutes. A total of three students were selected for this role.
Topics: In the technical round of the interview, interviewers asked various basic questions from core subjects, such as:

- Hydraulic Pumps
- Workshop tools
- Compressors
- Non Destructive Testing Methods
In the non-technical round (HR round) of the interview, interviewers asked for brief introductions, family background, hobbies, etc., and basic questions.

- Explain Iron Carbon equilibrium diagram?
- What is difference between otto and diesel cycle?
- Describe PV and TS diagram of otto and diesel cycle?
- How heat is added in otto cycle?
- What are the processes in otto cycle?
- What is a flywheel and where is used?
- What is the use of cam?
- What is governor and what is its function?
- Why aluminum does not corrode easily give reason?
- What are the types of compressors?
- How a compressor work?
- What are natural gases
