In a conversation with Shiksha.com, Inkelab Alam, Animation, art and design faculty at Ramesh Sippy Academy of Cinema and Entertainment talks at length about the teaching methodology adopted by the institute. He elaborates on the course curriculum design, the pedagogy, delivery of curriculum using more practical content and industry readiness.
Alam is BFA degree holder from Jamia Milllia Islamia (JMI), New Delhi and MFA degree holder from Jiwaji University, Gwalior. He has experience of working with multiple design schools as an Animation and Graphic Design trainer.

Q: What are the salient features of the teaching methodology adopted by your college? How does this differ from others?
A: We have courses specially curated by Ramesh Sippy who has more than four decades of experience in film making. He also personally mentors our students to enhance their skills. In addition to the degree training, we have 75% hands-on practical training which makes this a unique combination.
Q: How are you preparing your students to be Industry ready?
A: Our courses are designed in such a manner so that it covers 360 degrees of film making right from ideation of a story till post-production which will give you the final product in hand. So a student is exposed to all aspects of filmmaking by the time he passes out from college.
Q: What are the qualities you are looking for in student applicants? What qualities do they need to do well in your course?
A: All a student needs is a passion for filmmaking and an ability to think out of the box. Once that is fulfilled there is no looking back for him.
Q: How do you ensure that your course curriculum is up to date and meets industry requirements?
A: We constantly update our curriculum according to industry developments, we continuously research and take feedback from the industry experts on the changes in the industry. We hold online and offline seminars with industry experts for our students.
Q: Is your college receptive to innovation, technology, science & entrepreneurship? How? Could you cite some examples of these?
A: We Organise Master Classes on Saturdays with industry experts like writers, directors, filmmakers, producers where the students get an opportunity to interact directly with them.
