University Interview Experiences in Kamla Nehru Institute of Technology
Located in the Sultanpur district of Uttar Pradesh, KNIT is one of the leading autonomous technical educational institutions in Lucknow affiliated to Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam Technical University. The college is accredited by AICTE and NBA for a large number of courses. In total, KNIT offers 21 courses under UG, PG, and Doctoral programmes for different disciplines of Science such as Civil, Mechanical, Computer Science, Electronics, Electrical, etc. These include B.Tech, M.Tech, M.Tech (part-time), MCA and Ph.D. courses. The M.Tech (part-time) and other doctoral programmes are available to engineers working in the surrounding areas who want to further their education or sharpen their skills.
Admission to KNIT
Admissions to all the above-mentioned courses are merit-based on the performance of the students in the UPSEE-AKTU examination and counselling. However, presently, the UPSEEAKTU examination has been discarded, and the students will be admitted to different courses through different national-level examinations. For example, the admissions in B.Tech will be done through JEE Mains and through CUET for other UG and PG programmes. The results of only these examinations will be valid in all AKTU affiliated colleges, which includes KNIT, Sultanpur as well. After the publishing of results/score cards, the students can approach their desired colleges and seek admission to the same. KNIT has autonomy in framing instructions, methods of evaluation, examinations or any other activities related to the students’ admission after the National Level Entrance Test (CUET/JEE Mains). However, the result/degree/diploma/award afterwards is entirely in the hands of the university and thus offered by Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam Technical University to the students of KNIT, Sultanpur. The counselling procedures after the entrance test are also solely in the hands of the university.

There are no specific interview rounds mentioned in the counselling steps or procedures, but students may be asked some questions about their course interests or reason for choice after seat allocation. When students visit the college after getting their seat of choice for admissions, the admissions officer may have a few questions ready for them. Students may appear unconcerned because this would not result in the cancellation of their admissions, but rather as a routine activity to learn more about the student.
Here is a list of some frequently asked questions by the officer responsible for admissions:
- What prompted you to enrol in the following course?
- What are your future prospects regarding the course choice you are making?
- Did you have another course in mind if you weren't admitted to this one?
- What are your interests and hobbies?
- What can you do to help this college?
The above questions are not compulsory, and so is the interview. The admission officer may or may not be interested in interviewing you, but you must keep in mind the following points:
- Always go in formal-washed and ironed clothes even though you haven’t got the admission yet.
- Reach on time as there would be a long list of candidates.
- Carry all your documents prepared in different sets-one original and one Xerox.
- Take a tour of the college ahead of time so that any questions can be answered right away.
- Inquire about your class schedule and other academic questions.
