Altera Institute Admission Overview 2026
Altera Institute admission criteria is entrance-based. The institute offers a two-step admission process. First, candidates need to fill out an application form with the following four sections:
- Academic/Educational Background
- Work Experience/Professional Background
- Competitive Test scores
- SOP Questions
The institute accepts scores of various national-level entrance exams such as CAT, XAT, NMAT and GMAT for admission to its flagship PGP in Applied Marketing course. Candidates who do not have a valid national-level entrance exam scorecard can appear for the Aptitude Test conducted by Altera Institute periodically.
The minimum requirement to apply for the Altera Institute courses is that the candidate should be a graduate with atleast 50% or eqv. CGPA in any discipline from a recognized Institute/University.

No, CAT is not specifically mandatory for Altera Institute PGP course admissions, instead, candidates need to appear for any national level entrance exam for MBA admissions. However, if you don't have a competitive exam score such as (CAT, NMAT, GMAT, XAT), you will be required to take Altera's own aptitude test, the ALNAT. There is no additional fee for taking ALNAT; it is part of the application process.
Altera Institute PGP total fee is 16.44 L. This includes an admission fee of 1 L and a tuition fee of 15.44 L. Student housing is optional and starts at 3 L per year. The mentioned fee is inclusive of taxes.

1: Application Process 2026
Students seeking admission to Altera Institute in the PGP course need to apply on the official site of the institute. The Students have to pay the application fee of INR 1,999 to submit the application form.
2: Selection Rounds
Students need to qualify for specified selection criteria set by the institute. Given below are the selection parameters set by the institute for admission:
Competitive Scores: Valid scores from CAT, XAT, NMAT, &GMAT. If competitive exam scores are not provided, Students will be required to take the Altera National Aptitude Test (ALNAT).
Education: Academic performance in undergraduate studies.
Work Experience/Internships: Evaluation of the quality &depth of work experience; freshers are assessed based on internships or positions of responsibility.
3: Final seat allotment
Assessment Process: A multi-phase evaluation including:
Phase 1: Case study exercise to test analytical skills.
Phase 2: Personal interview to evaluate motivation &goals.
Phase 3: Interaction with a Director for insights into the candidate’s aspirations.
Admission Decision:
The admissions committee notifies applicants of their results after each application round.

Altera Insitute Fees 2026
The admission fee to secure the allocated seat at the institute is INR 1 L. The total tuition fee, payable in two branches, INR 15.44 L. The Total programme fee hence is INR 16.44 L.

To get into Altera Institute, students need to go through several steps. The institute offers entrance-based admission to PGP in Applied marketing. The college accepts various entrance exam scores such as CAT/ GMAT/ XAT/ NMAT or equivalent examinations scores for admission to PGP in Applied marketing. Further, candidates must fulfil the eligibility criteria to secure admission i.e. undergraduate degree with a score of 60% or equivalent from a recognised university/institute.
ALNAT exam 2024 was conducted on Apr 28, 2024. Hence, the 2025 exam can be expected to be conducted in the Apr month in 2025 as well. Moreover, the exam was conducted in the computer-based test mode at different test centres. To appear for the exam, candidates had to visit the exam centre and take the exam online. Candidates are required to reach the exam centre at least an hour before the exam to complete frisking formalities.
