Overall, the college is excellent.

Placements: There are 80-90 students per batch, and some students get good placements with an average package of 6-10 LPA. Companies like MAERSK, etc., come here. On average, 60% of students got internships. Some students are offered higher positions in shipping like capitan, chief engineer etc.

Infrastructure: Everything is good here, but the campus is not Wi-Fi enabled. The classrooms are excellent. The hostel is good, and the condition of the washrooms is okay. The food from 2022 is superb. The ground is small, but sports are going well.

Faculty: Some of the teachers are bad, but 70% of the faculty are superb. They teach in an excellent manner. The course curriculum is not relevant. It does not make the students ready for industry. Exams are tough. 90% of students pass the exams.

Other: Parade is the best time for us to learn everything on campus. We can read more books to gain more knowledge. Events are held every year. Everything is good on campus.

Eligibility:

Category 1:

Candidates who have passed 1st year training from DG Shipping approved Alternate Training Scheme (excludes MERI graduates).

Category 2:

Candidates who have passed 1st year from AICTE approved Engineering Colleges in Mechanical Engineering/ Electrical Engineering with Minimum 60% average marks.

Category 3:

Candidates with 3-year Diploma from AICTE or State Board approved institutions in Mechanical Engineering/ Marine Engineering/ Electrical Engineering/ Electrical & Electronics Engineering with Minimum 55% aggregate marks in final year.

Category 4:

Candidates with 4-year Diploma in Ship Building Engineering from AICTE or State Board approved institutions with Minimum 55% aggregate marks in final year.

Category 5:

Candidates with 3-year Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Streams: Automobile Engineering, Machine Tools and Maintenance, Plant Engineering, Production Technology, Production Engineering, Advanced Diploma in Tool and Die Making or Electrical Engineering Streams: Electrical Power System or Electrical & Electronics Streams: Digital Electronics, Electronics and Communications, Electronics & Telecommunication, Industrial Electronics, Electronics Production & Maintenance, Instrumentation, Instrumentation & Control with Minimum 55% aggregate marks in final year.

Applicants must have scored Minimum 50% marks in 10th/12th standard or degree/diploma. There is relaxation for Island Residents: 5% marks relaxation for Lakshadweep and Andaman & Nicobar Islands ST candidates.

Medical standard:

- Applicants must be medically fit including eyesight and hearing as prescribed in the Merchant Shipping (Medical Examination) Rules, 2000, as amended and Vision is Maximum (+/-) 2.5 with no color blindness

- Minimum height should be 157 centimeters.

Age:

The maximum age limit mentioned above shall be applicable for General Category candidates.
The maximum age limit for candidates belonging to "Scheduled Caste" (SC) / "Scheduled Tribe" (ST) Category shall be relaxed by 5 years.
The maximum age limit for candidates belonging to Non-creamy layer of "Other Backward Classes' (OBC) Category shall be relaxed by 3 years.
The maximum age limit for women candidates of each Category shall be relaxed by additional 2 years.

What is the procedure for joining B.Tech in marine engineering lateral entry? My brother is pursuing Diploma (mechanical) with 86%.

Hi, As you brother is pursuing is diploma, he can join marine engineering after completing his diploma and 87% is a good score.

Hello Mehebub, One can definitely apply in anticipation of result for an entrance exam since admission depends not only on securing minimum prescribed marks in qualifying exam but good ranking in entrance exam also. But invariably, lateral admission is based on marks of Diploma and no entrance exam.
