Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science, also known as HITS, was established in 1985 and is located in Kelambakkan, Chennai. At the UG level, Hindustan University offers a four-year BTech course across 15 specialisations, including two specialisations, which are offered in collaboration with IBM. Hindustan University offers a three-year LLB course as a professional program. This course is approved by the Bar Council through the School of Law. HITS admit candidates to its BTech courses through HITSEEE counselling. However, it may grant admission through TNEA counselling as well. In 2024, the TNEA last round closing rank was 19791 for BTech in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science. It is for the candidates belonging to general All-India category candidates. The closing rank further shows that competition has got low as the closing rank was 2295 in 2023.

The total tuition fee for the BTech course ranges between INR 1.8 Lakhs to INR 13 lakhs. Apart from this, the candidate also has to pay hostel and one-time fee to pursue BTech course at Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science commonly known as Hindustan University.

In order to get admission to BTech at Hindustan University, the minimum eligibility criteria is to pass Class 12 with minimum 50% aggregate in PCM as subjects. Those who belong to the reserved category are required to get 45% aggregate. The university also offers admission to BTech (Lateral Entry). The minimum eligibility criteria for the same is to either get a Diploma with minimum 50% aggregate in the branch of Engineering/ Technology from the State Board of Technical Education and Training, Tamil Nadu or graduate with minimum 50% aggregate in Science and Mathematics as one of the main subject. The candidate should fall in the age group from 19 to 22 years.
