B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering - Batch of 2027

Great campus life, average placements, and improving faculty.
Placements: The college has a Training & Placement cell that organizes aptitude tests, group discussions, and mock interviews. These prepare students for both technical and HR rounds. According to Careers360, in one placement cycle, 131 students were placed. The median salary (for UG) is around 4.70 LPA as per one report. According to college batch, the highest package is around 8 LPA.
Infrastructure: Hostel facilities are average. Rooms are decent but not very modern. Basic furniture is provided. Water and electricity are generally available, but maintenance can be slow sometimes. Cleanliness depends on the wardens and students. Discipline is not perfect but manageable. Food quality is okay, not great. The mess menu is repetitive, but hygiene is acceptable. Canteen food is better than the mess, but choices are limited. Overall, food is average like in most government engineering colleges.
Faculty: There is a large variation in pass percentage according to different students. Some say very low (33%), others very high (90+%). This suggests that difficulty may depend heavily on the branch, semester, or teacher. The official pass mark per subject (for exams) is relatively standard (35%) under JUT’s grading scheme, which is common in many engineering colleges. The attendance requirement (75%) is strict. Missing lectures can make exam eligibility harder.
Other: Athletics (running, relay race), football, basketball, volleyball, cricket, badminton, table tennis, chess, tug-of-war, kabaddi, powerlifting (in some fests). Other indoor games include carrom, pool, etc.

I am absolutely dissatisfied because of placements.
Placements: There are no campus placement offers in this college. No companies come for campus selection. Our college should call companies for campus selection programs. A very poor percentage of students got internships. The college should take proper steps to ensure that the company should take part in the campus placement program.
Infrastructure: Toilets and washrooms are not hygienic and have water problems. Drinking water problems are also there in the college. The infrastructure and facilities of the hostel are very poor. The infrastructure of the hostel is very old. There is a poor canteen. The classrooms are not good and the labs are not so advanced. Our college needs to upgrade the classrooms and labs.
Faculty: The course is relevant and it makes students industry-ready. Teachers are well qualified. Semester exams are not too tough. Teachers are very helpful and supportive. Teachers advise and encourage us to do hardwork. The passing percentage is 33%. Some teachers have very good teaching quality but some are not so good but have a lot of knowledge.
Other: No events are organised by the college. There are no campus cultural programs organised. The college should adopt smart classes.

It is the best college near my hometown.
Placements: Almost every student gets placed here. The highest salary package offered was 10 LPA, and the lowest salary package offered was 3 LPA. Top recruiting companies like Tata, Mahindra, etc., visit our college for placements. Almost every student gets an internship in the BCCL company. Top roles like assistant manager, etc., are offered to the students.
Infrastructure: Our college provides mind-blowing facilities. The infrastructure is huge and beautiful. Many courses are available in the college. Many workshops are available here. Classrooms are well-furnished includes a smartboard and Wi-Fi facility. The library is also available. The food served in a mess is good.
Faculty: I think our college has the best teachers in the world. Faculty members' teaching style is best. They are well-qualified. Almost every teacher is an M.Tech holder. The course curriculum is relevant, and it makes the students industry-ready. They teach us how to be cool and active for any task.
Other: I have chosen this course because, at that time, mechanical engineering was in trend. The best thing is if you get a proper job, then your life is set for the future. Annual fest and monthly tech fest are organised here.

Absolutely dissatisfied because poor management and not so good curriculum.
Placements: 38% of students got placement. Many companies came to our college and they offer maximum package of 3 Lakh per annum and minimum of 1 Lakh. But mainly local companies come to our college.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is available but it is for showoff as it has poor speed. Our college has a central library which provides books for the whole semester. Central Library has no magazine or novel. The canteen is not good. Hostel facilities are not good. It requires maintenance. The food is average.
Faculty: Some teachers just come to class, give lecture and go. they do not interact with students. They are not much helpful. Teaching quality is not good because they copy everything from the book. There are no curriculum activities in our college.
Other: I chose this course because I really love to play with machines.

Real Talk: My B.Tech College Experience.
Placements: Our batch is 2023-2027, and I am studying B.Tech. Around 60-70% of students got placed from our course. The highest package offered was 12 LPA, the lowest 3 LPA, and the average package is around 5 LPA. Top recruiting companies are TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Cognizant, and Accenture. Around 50% of students got internships in different companies like TCS, Infosys, Wipro, and some startup companies. Top roles offered are Software Developer, Web Developer, Data Analyst, and IT Support. There are some problems regarding placement that should be rectified.
Infrastructure: The facilities in my course department are good. We have well-equipped labs and classrooms, Wi-Fi available, but sometimes it's slow. The library has good books but needs more new editions. The hostel rooms are clean, but there is sometimes a water problem; the mess food is tasty but repetitive. The canteen serves snacks, the medical facilities are okay but not 24 hours, and the sports and games facilities are average. A lot of things are needed.
Faculty: Teachers are mostly helpful and qualified. They know their subjects, but sometimes they explain too fast, and it is difficult to understand. The teaching quality is good, but it depends on the teacher. The course curriculum is mostly relevant and gives basic knowledge for the industry, but more practical exposure is needed. Semester exams are a bit tough sometimes; the pass percentage is around 70-75%. Many students fail because they do not prepare.
Other: Our batch is 2023-2027, and I am studying B.Tech. I chose this course because I like engineering and want a good career in the technical field. The best things about the course are practical learning in labs and supportive teachers. I wish there were more industry visits and an updated syllabus. The college has good events and fests, the campus crowd is friendly, connectivity is okay, and the surroundings are peaceful. Scholarships are available for needy students. Extracurricular activities like sports and cultural programs are also organized, but could be more frequent. One problem is that general category students do not get scholarships; this is an issue.
