B.A. in Economics - Batch of 2024
4.6
My college journey makes me ready for the new world.
Placements: There was placement, but it was limited for master's-level students. The highest package was 11 LPA. The lowest was 5 LPA. Famous and well-known companies offered internships to eligible students.
Infrastructure: Fergusson College was famous for its historical campus and infrastructure. Campus was filled with nature. And there was a separate building for every specialization subject. The quality of facilities in the hostel was good and the quality of food available in the mess and canteen was acceptable.
Faculty: Teachers were helpful, qualified and knowledgeable. They always help students in their academics. The course curriculum is relevant for students and it makes students ready for industries. The exam is not so hard and we required 35% to pass the exam.
Other: I have an interest in economics and jobs are in this field so these factors influence me to pursue this field. Fergusson College was well-known for its campuses and annual fest, which was known as Spandam.

Very thankful towards my college as it gives a lot of good experience .
Placements: There is placement only for postgraduate level; an average of 40 to 45 % of students were placed in one batch, with the highest package being 11 lacs and the lowest package being 6 lacs. Well-known companies give internships to students. Internship give a role like researcher.
Infrastructure: Fergusson college is well known for its historically significant infrastructure or buildings. The Economics Department Building has excellent infrastructure. Our college has a special sports building (Gymkhana) and at our college, lots of students were playing at the national level. In our canteen, food quality is good and cleanliness is also there.
Faculty: Yes, the teachers are very helpful towards the students. As we know, Fergusson College is well known around the world, so definitely teachers are well educated and qualified. Yes, the course curriculum is relevant to students. The semester exam is medium-level hard, not too much.
Other: I have had an interest in economics since my 12th grade; there is also scope for economics in the new world so I chose this course. In Fergusson, there is an annual function and it lasts for 3 days .

Fergusson College : A Glimpse.
Placements: There are very few placements for the B.A. in Economics course. There is no internship or placement provided for a B.A. in Economics. And I have also thought of a placement or an internship after completing the B.A. in Economics course. Instead of placements, I am doing a master's in economics.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the college is from ancient times. You will be able to see ancient buildings still present on the campus. There are no changes in the infrastructure of the ancient buildings. The hostel is also good and the food available in the mess is tasty.
Faculty: The faculty of the college is knowledgeable, but there are mostly new faculty and there is a need for experienced faculty who can share their experience with the students and students can learn from those experiences. The course curriculum is relevant to the course that the college has selected.

Review of Fergusson College.
Placements: Our college has a good chance of placements. It also has a competitive coaching centre which was opened recently in the campus itself in preparing students for competitive exams like U.P.S.C and M.P.S.C being a renowned and reputed college for years. Placements are not a big deal.
Infrastructure: Fergusson is known for its the oldest infrastructure in India. It has the best campus spread in 70 acres in the middle of the city. College provides hostel admission on the basis of merit. Hostel infrastructure is a bit average but the college is best for B.A.
Faculty: Faculty members are well experienced and at their best. They are the assets of Fergusson college. The course curriculum is relevant and is knowledgeable. From basic to advanced knowledge everything is covered. Semester exams are conducted on a high level of questions and the pass percentage is maximum 33%.
Other: Being a humanities student and social science freak from class 11th, I always wanted to pursue B.A. from Fergusson College because of the quality and regularity of faculty here. Co-curricular activities, NSS, NCC, fests area all zest Of the College. It has good connectivity to every nook and corner of the city by autos and local bus transport. Saathi, an organisation that works for differently able students is also a major part of the college. It offers French, German, Hindi Marathi, and Sanskrit as your second language.

Our college is very good for students who want in-depth and clear education in their field.
Placements: Many students got high-salary jobs like data analyst or accountant in reputed companies. Students also got many internships. Almost 95% of the students got placements. Internships offered by the college are very good, and everyone has many options for that.
Infrastructure: At least 2 lacs books are available for students in the library. Classrooms are clean, well-developed, and comfortable. There is a good hostel for girls and boys at very low fees. There are separate hostels for international students. The food in the mess is very good. Sports are available in our college, and free Wi-Fi is also available.
Faculty: Teachers in our college are highly educated and very good in their field. They teach very well in class, and teaching in our college is excellent. The course is very good in our college, and it makes students ready for the industry. Semester exams are tough compared to other colleges, and the pass percentage is the same as SPPU guidelines.
Other: I have chosen economics because I am interested in that field, and I want to pursue a master's in economics. Our college is very good for economics, and the campus is very good for learning. There is enough crowd in the college, and scholarships are also available for students. Our college also conducts many extracurricular in their campus.

Our college has a good campus life.
Placements: I did not sit for placements, so I don't know in detail, but we did have quite a few companies coming for placements and ZS is one of them. As far as I am aware, the highest salary offered was about Rs. 40,000 per month. Our college does not offer internships, but a lot of students applied for internships on their own.
Infrastructure: The campus is beautiful. However, the classrooms need renovations. In some of the classrooms, water seeps through when it rains. The stats department is better than the other departments, with projectors installed. The washrooms also need urgent renovation.
Faculty: Most of the faculty members in our college are very knowledgeable. We did have a problem in the second year when teachers for a subject weren't fixed. We were taught one subject by 4 different teachers, which caused a bit of confusion. But overall, most of the faculty members were very qualified and had good knowledge about their subject.

Institute that runs because of its history.
Placements: There's no exact scene of placements. We didn't have a placement week or anything nor did the placement cell seem very active. We had to apply for off campus because recruiters coming on campus weren't great. Only the Accenture 3 year integrated course seemed okay for people interested in HR.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is of an old hertiage Institute, old classrooms and washrooms. I didn't use the washrooms but those who did absolutely hated it. The gym is very old, used only by a few. There's just a plain ground in the name of a football ground where people played cricket. Tennis court is decent.
Faculty: Faculty for economics and Psychology is great. People hardly attend so they don't really know how good the teachers are. Most of the best teachers have left. The ones that are there are decent. One of they only good features of this colleges. The curriculum is very bad, basically a repetition of what people have done in 11-12th economics. Psychology is decent.

Fergusson College is the best college.
Placements: Placements were good. Even students got a good internship at best of institutes. The legacy that college had was unbeatable as well, which was the reason to turn Ferguson college into the university. People were good at every different sector in college. Many worked in NGO and created their job to help the society.
Infrastructure: The college infrastructure is excellent. There are old rock buildings which are very comfortable in all the seasons. There is greenery which makes you refresh at every point of time to study well in classrooms or outside. There are very much pleasant classrooms. There is a beautiful library which is like a treasure of our college. I missed going to the study room at the college.
Faculty: Faculty were the best, and all were expert in every subject. Many faculty were PhD holders. There was the best active learning in Ferguson. In the geography department, we had beautiful and rarest geography-related specimens. Even the course had many of the certificates course included.
Other: There is an outstanding college fest conducted in the college where the different departments come together and friendly they celebrate the festival. Each department has its event planned and in the games any students from the various department participate and win the prize sponsored by the sponsors like Pizza hut, Falahar, dominos, etc. Even many scholarships provided for people talented students. Many foreigners also take part to receive scholarships.

The cutoff for B.A in Eco is very high since it has very less and limited seats. You need atleast 93% and above to get a seat for BA in Economics at Fergusson college, Pune

Minimum percentage required to get admission in any BA course in Fergusson is 80%, because that's the maximum downfall I have seen in the past few years in the cut-offs. I would suggest you go to any other college than this.
