B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering - Batch of 2020

Review of Government College of Engineering- Kalahandi, Biju Patnaik University of Technology.
Placements: Almost 30% of the students got placed in our course. The lowest salary package offered is 2 LPA. Tata is the top recruiting company for our mechanical branch. Almost 70% of the students got internships from our course. The role offered in our course is to lead the group.
Infrastructure: Food facilities are somewhat low, but they are average. Still, other things are good. The quality of the facility in the hostel, food, canteen, medical facilities, sports and games are good. In our college, the library facility is very good. Labs are also well-maintained in our college.
Faculty: Teachers are very helpful and qualified, and their teaching quality is also very good, very different and well-understandable. Students would like the teaching process. The course curriculum is relevant, and it makes students industry-ready.

I am dissatisfied with the college organisation. I do not recommend this college to anyone.
Placements: I am from the mechanical branch and 2018 pass out batch. Only 20% of the students got placed through off-campus. Companies do not visit our college for placement. The salary package offered to the students was 1.5 LPA. The highest salary package offered to two students was 3.60 LPA by TCS. Students did their internship in CTTC and other companies like Jindal, SAIL Rourkela with their own arrangement. Internships are not so fruitful as there is no use of this in the corporate sector. Our course is based on the automobile sector and power plant sector as a mechanical engineer.
Infrastructure: Our classrooms are good, and the department is also good. Classrooms are no air-conditioned. Labs are not equipped with all instruments. Only the internet facility is excellent. Hostels are well organised. Location of college is good with well communication facility. All kinds of sports equipment are available. Quality of food served is good and hygienic. All essential shops are available inside the campus, so there is no need to go outside. The campus is of the best quality that you won't regret. The college provides 24x7 Wi-Fi facility for students.
Faculty: Many faculty members are highly qualified and experienced. But they don't take regular classes due to which our course couldn't be completed. Their teaching quality is average. The course curriculum does not make the students industry-ready as they do not provide practical knowledge. The course curriculum is irrelevant to do engineering without practical knowledge. They should conduct classes properly.
Other: I have chosen this college because I thought it was a good government college and I joined it through OJEE 2014 and by counselling process, and I got into mechanical course. The colleges organise tech fests, annual functions, etc. Different seminars are also conducted. Government scholarships like CAFAS and Prerana are also distributed to meritorious students.

Review of Government College of Engineering- Kalahandi, Biju Patnaik University of Technology.
Placements: The college provides good placements and provides 100% job assurance. It also conducts interviews for all the students. The college also conducts training classes for placements, and for even good communication skills. My seniors got placed through campus placements. The college provides very good internships. There is a placement cell in our college. Companies like Tata Steel, TCS, Infosys, Wipro visit our college for placements.
Infrastructure: There is a well-designed building with beautiful interior and good flooring with colourful flowers design. There is a library, medical facilities, and also sports and games room. The good quality of food items is available in the canteen. There are 6 hostels for boys and girls.
Faculty: Faculty members are really good, supportive, helpful and also optimistic. I like them. They are highly qualified, knowledgeable, and they use smart classroom teaching facilities. I have done industrial training in HAL Koraput. There are 25 faculty members in our college.

Overall, our college is good.
Placements: Placements were pretty good for our senior and 40 to 50% of students were placed. The highest salary package offered was 11 LPA, and I don't have any idea about the lowest salary package. In our batch, 70 to 80% of students got an internship from our college, and the highest stipend offered is Rs. 3,000 per month. There is a placement cell in our college.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi service is very good in our college which offers 1 GB for every student. Labs in the mechanical department are good, but still, it needs some improvements. Classrooms and library are good. Our college is like heaven for students who are interested in sports and games. The food quality is very good, and the hostel rooms are also good. I did not face any issues related to infrastructure.
Faculty: Teachers are very helpful, well-qualified and knowledgeable except for some teachers. Teaching methods are good enough, and they used whiteboards and projectors to teach. The student-faculty ratio is 11:1. We got industry exposures. The course curriculum is useful.
Other: Tech fest, cultural fest, etc., are conducted in our college.

it is a good college for engineering students.
Placements: There is a training and placement cell. They conduct various training and placement for final year students. In the year 2019, TCS (tata consultancy services ) and Wipro visited our campus for placements. In mechanical engineering, Tech Mahindra visited for recruiting students. Also, summer training is conducted via the cell.
Infrastructure: There are good facilities in our labs. Classrooms are good. Libraries are also present to provide books and different online facilities. There are certain labs for all departments of engineering. Hostel rooms are good. The food committee decides the quality of the food served in the canteen.
Faculty: Teachers are qualified and from IIT and NITS. They help students in all course-related and also in our knowledge. Teaching quality is very well. The teaching method is easy. GATE coaching is also provided for free. TEQIP cell conducts NPTEL programme. BPTU provides all course curriculum.
Other: Events like annual sports and function named Anugunj are organised. College also provides robotics trainee. The scholarship like Prerana and national scholarship are offered to an eligible student.

Good infrastructure and facilities. It can be the best college within 2-3 years.
Placements: The college provides placements every year. Companies like TCS, Tech Mahindra and many others visit the college to offer placements. The opportunity is given to all the students. Many of the students were offered a salary of Rs. 40,000 per month. As it is a government college, the placement assurance is more, and the maximum students get placed in their respective sectors.
Infrastructure: Our college is under development, but now, it has the main building of 5 floors, a central workshop, a library, and cafeteria that provides food. A student activity centre is also available. The campus has 5-6 shops (Xerox shop, saloon, laundry and two grocery shops). Our college has two boys' hostels named APJ and VHR and one girls' hostel named MTHR.
Faculty: Faculty members are provided from TEQUIP planned by the government for better education. These faculty members are good at speaking and teaching and explain in a very good manner. The syllabus is completed and exams are conducted according to the schedule. Many old and experienced faculty members are provided to guide us better to gain practical knowledge. We have a better surrounding to study peacefully.
Other: An annual function is conducted every year. A techfest is conducted for students to gain better technical knowledge, and students from other colleges also participate in it.

The college is very good.
Placements: The college is a new one, so the placement scenario is not good. Due to the college being new, companies are not interested to visit. But in the future, the placement condition will be better. In 2017, an IT company visited for placements.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the college is very good. There are a lot of services provided like a bank, ATM, and restaurants. The building of the college is new, and hostel facilities are also provided. The environment is very neat and clean. The college has its own playground and auditorium. Every type of lab is available here.
Faculty: The faculty members of this college are the best. The teachers always try their best, and classes are conducted regularly. Teachers finish the courses on time, and the college arranges competitions for extracurricular activities. There are also many clubs according to students' interest.
Other: The college organises a techfest and various functions every year. Street drama is also organised in the whole town.

I am absolutely dissatisfied with the infrastructure of the college.
Placements: Placements in the college were not that good. We had to go to different colleges for off-campus drives. The salary package offered was only 4 LPA. The college didn't offer any internship opportunities for students. They don't have any dedicated placement cell, and the placements in this college are not that efficient.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi facility was not available in the college. However, a library, labs, classrooms, medical facilities, and sports and games were available. The quality of labs and classrooms was not that good. The quality of food available in the canteen was very good and delicious. The hostels are huge, and there are spacious rooms.
Faculty: Faculty members in the college were well-qualified and knowledgeable. They had a unique teaching quality. They used slides to teach students. The faculty to student ratio was around 1:5. We got industry exposure only once. The course curriculum was according to BPUT University, and it was quite helpful for further studies.
