Candidates can get admission to the IISER Pune MSc course without IIT JAM scores. However, it completely depends on the specialisation candidates have selected. Candidates can get admission into MSc in Mathematics and MSc in Physics (Quantum Technology) without IIT JAM scores. For MSc Physics, candidates with relevant scores in the GATE exam with subject codes PH, EE, EC, IN, MA, ST, CS, and DA can also apply, and for MSc Mathematics, the institute accepts its in-house-entrance test. 

IISER Pune offers an MSc course for the duration of two years and offers an integrated BSc + MSc course for the duration of five years. MSc in Earth and Climate Science (Geology): Candidates must have studied Mathematics in Class 12 and must complete a BSc in Geology/ Geological Science/ Geoscience/ Earth Science with Mathematics/ Physics/ Chemistry/ Statistics with an aggregate of 60% (55% for reserved categories). For admission, the institute accepts IIT JAM Geology scores. 

MSc in Mathematics: BSc/ BTech from any specialisation with an aggregate of 60% (55% for reserved categories). The selection to the programme will be based on a two-stage written test conducted by the institute. 

MSc in Physics (Quantum Technology): BTech/ BE in Aerospace/ Chemical/ Electrical/ Electronics/ Communications/ Computer Science/ Information Technology/ Mechanical/ Instrumentation/ Engineering Physics or BSc/ MSc/ Integrated BS-MS in Physics/ Mathematics/ Statistics/ Materials science/ Electronics/ Instrumentation. Candidates must have IIT JAM 2025 exam with one of the following subject codes: MS, MA, PH. Additionally, GATE exam with subject codes PH, EE, EC, IN, MA, ST, CS, DA.

Yes, the IISER Entrance Test is compulsory to get admission into the BS+MS course at IISER Pune. On the basis of a candidate's score in the IISER entrance exam (also known as the IISER aptitude test), candidates can secure admission to the IISER Pune BS+MS course. After evaluating applicants' scores in the entrance exam, the institute releases the merit/cutoff list of shortlisted candidates. Further, shortlisted candidates can confirm their admission by paying an adequate amount of course fees. 

The qualification for the BS-MS programme at IISER Pune mandates students to pass Class 12 or an equivalent with a Science stream from a board. Students must also pass in the IISER Aptitude Test (IAT). The erstwhile avenues such as KVPY and JEE-Advanced are not taken into account anymore.
