M.Sc. in Quantum Technology - Batch of 2026

Read before you take admission to MS Quantum Teach in IISER Pune.

Placements: One got a Ph.D. in ETH Zurich, one got an MS thesis in Poland, one in Vienna, one in Sweden. A son got an MS thesis in industries. One student got a proper job before the completion of the course. As this is the first batch, there are no significant placements to date.

Infrastructure: Good infrastructure is available. Labs are really high-tech here. Especially, the 3rd semester lab is of really high quality for a postgraduate lab. We can join any relevant research lab for our project. The library is available till midnight. The hostels are double-sharing, neat and clean, and very spacious.

Faculty: The curriculum needs to be refined over time. There is not much specialized content. The first year is the same as the Physics M.Sc. In the 3rd semester, there are specialized courses, but most of them are not that interesting and there are not many options. Most of the faculty are average at teaching and not that interested in guiding a Quantum Teach student.

Other: This is the first batch of this course. The concept is nice, but it needs time to be relevant and a value-for-money course.

Should you go for an MS in Quantum Technology at IISER Pune.

Placements: Some students get internships in industry. One student gets a Ph.D. at ETH Zurich. One student gets an MS project in Poland, one in Vienna, and one in Sweden. Some of the students get MS projects in industry. Only one student gets placed with a good package in a company before course completion. This is the first batch, so placements are not there yet.

Infrastructure: The infrastructure is good. The hostel rooms are also good. The main academic building is full of facilities. The library is open until midnight. There is enough seating space. The lecture halls are good and spacious. AC is available everywhere. The hostel rooms are good and clean. The campus is clean and beautiful.

Faculty: Some teachers are good. Most of them are average. The curriculum needs integration. The first year is the same as an M.Sc. in Physics. After that, one semester is dedicated to a Quantum Technology course. However, those courses are not that special. The curriculum needs modifications. Maybe it is better to pursue pure Physics.

Other: The MS Quantum Technology course needs time.
